We appointed you a head, yet through it you did not speak;
and we struck your head, so it split apart.
We divided the earth in two: one half of it
is ours, and we exchange shots to make both halves ours together.
With ninety thousand—the eye is bewildered in their midst;
whenever al-Ṭirimmāḥ’s two eyes behold them, they weep.
When we have grazed the land bare, our horses strain onward,
bearing us until we overrun the impregnable.
