أَلَمَّ عَلى عِنَباتِ العَجوزِ
وَحُسوَتِها مِن غِياثٍ لَمَم
On the old woman’s grapes there fell
and on her little draught, a trifling trespass by Ghiyāth.
فَظَلَّت تُهَينِمُ في بَيتِها
وَتَلعَنُ وَاللَعنُ مِنها أَمَم
So she went on muttering in her house
and cursing—her curses ever ready at hand.
