ظَعائِنُ إِمّا مِن هِلالٍ ذُؤابَةٌ
هِجانٌ وَإِمّا مِن سَراةِ الأَراقِمِ
Women in howdahs—either Hilal's noble crest,
The gazelles are either from Hilal's family, docile,
pure of lineage, or from the nobles of al-Araqim;
Or from the pasture of Al-Araquim, lively and bouncing.
إِذا بُحِثَت أَنسابُهُنَّ لِسائِلٍ
دَعَونَ عِكَبّاً أَو بُجَيرَ اِبنَ سالِمِ
when their lineages are examined for an inquirer,
If their lineage is investigated by an inquirer,
they name ʿIkabb or Bujayr son of Salim.
They claim descent from 'Iqab or Bujayr the son of Salim.
