You two did no wrong in providing for the tribe’s guest,
You did no wrong in hosting the living
and in giving drink as noble, generous chiefs do,
And quenching the thirst of honored guests.
and in striving as Salma ibn Jandal strove,
You strove as Salma son of Jandal strove
and as Hubaysh strove between Ghawl and Qadim,
And as Hubaysh strove between foe and comer.
and in slaughtering two young male camels from what you two had gathered.
You raided the two she-camels you had collected
And the worst drinking companion is one who sobers up without bearing any expense.
And regret is worst when milk turns useless.
