1. The daughter herself—even if they feel burdened by her—

    is nothing but abundance God grants His servants.

  2. She is a token of the mercy of her parents,

    proof of filial goodness, and the emblem of affection.

  3. O sky, with halos closing full circle,

    shower down moons of glory and happiness.

  4. Shower Egypt and the earth’s East with

    children of the glorious—kings and lords.

  5. Then spread from among their sons a lofty tree

    to fill the Nile country—its villages and lands;

  6. in whose shade the people may find rest,

    and beneath it everyone attain their desire.

  7. O prince of forbearance, do not chafe: never

    has one who buttressed his purpose with patience failed.

  8. Indeed, from this youth we hope

    for descendants—many, and ever increasing.

  9. For he is the mainstay of kingship—and that suffices;

    if the line falters, its pillar cannot be raised.

  10. We have accepted the share God allotted us,

    and joined to contentment our gratitude for His will.
