يا شباب اقتدوا بشيخ المعالى

فالمعالي تشبُّه وتحدّي

O youth, emulate the Sheikh Al-Mu'alli

For emulating Al-Mu'alli is resemblance and challenge

قد تصدى لنائبات حقوق

غير سهل لمثلهن التصدّي

He confronted the vicissitudes of rights

Not easy for the likes of them to confront

حزَنَته بلاده وهي صيد

بين نابى مظَّفر الناب ورد

His country saddened while it was prey

Between a victorious paw and a returning paw

أمة من غرائب النصر نشوَى

تسلب الملك من تشاء وتسدي

A nation from the wonders of victory delighted

Robbing kingdom from whoever she wants and donating

أخرست أفصح القياصر سيفا

بأساطيل في الخصومة لُدّ

Silenced the most eloquent of Caesars by a sword

With fleets in the contention sharp

جاءها سعد شاهر الحق يدعو

سيفها المنتضى لخطة رشد

Came to it Saad showing the truth calling

أعزل المنِكبين إلا من الحقـ

ـق ومن حجة كنصل الفرند

خاطب النار وهي في شفة المِد

فنفوا فانتفى فصادف خظا

حبذا الجِد إن أعين بِجد

وإذا مصر كاللبوءة غضبي

لأبنها تبذل الدماء وتفدي
