O Times of lies, slander and falsehood

ما أنت إلا ماليين همهم

سلب الممالك من بور ومعمور

You are but millions preoccupied

With robbing countries, cultivated or barren

يستأجرونك ما شاءت مطامعهم

ولا كرامة في الدنيا لمأجور

They hire you however they please

No dignity in life for a hired hand

نقصت حق بنى مصر وليس لهم

ذنب سوى أنهم طلاب دستور

You belittled the Egyptians' right and they have

No sin except for seeking a constitution

فهل يُعد أثميا في اصطلاحكم

من جدّ في طلب العرفان والنور

Is one considered a sinner in your lexicon

If one perseveres in seeking knowledge and light
