قِف بِالمَمالِكِ وَاِنظُر دَولَةَ المالِ
وَاِذكُر رِجالاً أَدالوها بِإِجمالِ
Stand at the kingdoms and observe the state of wealth
And remember the men who amassed it in total
وَاِنقُل رُكابَ القَوافي في جَوانِبِها
لا في جَوانِبِ رَسمِ المَنزِلِ البالي
And move the riders of rhymes on its sides
Not on the sides of the abode whose image is fading
ما هَيكَلُ الهَرَمِ الجيزِيِّ مِن ذَهَبٍ
في العَينِ أَزيَنَ مِن بُنيانِها الحالي
The structure of the Giza pyramid is not made of gold
Yet in the eye it is more beautiful than its present building
عَلا بِها الحِرصُ أَركاناً وَأَخرَجَها
عَلى مِثالٍ مِنَ الدُنيا وَمِنوالِ
Greed raised pillars in it and brought it out
In an example of worldliness and its ways
فيها الشَقاءُ لِقَومٍ وَالنَعيمُ لَهُم
وَبُؤسُ ساعٍ وَنُعمى قاعِدٍ سالي
In it is misery for some people and bliss for them
And the wretchedness of an hour and the bounty of one sitting still
وَالمالُ مُذ كانَ تِمثالٌ يُطافُ بِهِ
وَالناسُ مُذ خُلِقوا عُبّادُ تِمثالِ
And money since it has been an idol circulated
And people since they were created worshippers of an idol
إِذا جَفا الدورَ فَاِنعَ النازِلينَ بِها
أَوِ المَمالِكَ فَاِندُبها كَأَطلالِ
If time lets down the residents in it
Or the kingdoms, then mourn them like ruins
يا طالِباً لِمَعالي المُلكِ مُجتَهِداً
خُذها مِنَ العِلمِ أَو خُذها مِنَ المالِ
O you who aspires for the heights of kingdom diligently
Take it from knowledge or take it from money
بِالعِلمِ وَالمالِ يَبني الناسُ مُلكَهُمُ
لمَ يُبنَ مُلكٌ عَلى جَهلٍ وَإِقلالِ
With knowledge and money people build their kingdom
No kingdom was built on ignorance and scarcity
سَراةَ مِصرَ عَهِدناكُم إِذا بُسِطَت
يَدُ الدُعاءِ سِراعاً غَيرَ بُخّالِ
The elite of Egypt, we have known you when
The hand of prayer was widely spread without stinginess
تَبَيَّنَ الصِدقُ مِن بَينِ الأُمورِ لَكُمُ
فَاِمضوا إِلى الماءِ لا تُلووا عَلى الآلِ
Sincerity was clarified amongst matters for you
So go ahead to the water, do not twist yourselves to the family
لا يَذهَبِ الدَهرُ بَينَ التُرَّهاتِ بِكُم
وَبَينَ زَهرٍ مِنَ الأَحلامِ قَتّالِ
Time will not come between hesitations about you
And between a flower of dreams that kills
هاتوا الرِجالَ وَهاتوا المالَ وَاِحتَشِدوا
رَأياً لِرَأيٍ وَمِثقالاً لِمِثقالِ
Bring the men and bring the money and rally
An opinion to an opinion and a measure to a measure
هَذا هُوَ الحَجَرُ الدُرِّيُّ بَينَكُمُ
فَاِبنوا بِناءَ قُرَيشٍ بَيتَها العالي
This is the precious stone amongst you
So build the construction of Quraysh their high house
دارٌ إِذا نَزَلَت فيها وَدائِعُكُم
أَودَعتُمُ الحَبَّ أَرضاً ذاتَ إِغلالِ
A house wherein if your deposits descended
You entrusted love to a land heavy with burdens
آمالُ مِصرَ إِلَيها طالَما طَمَحَت
هَل تَبخَلونَ عَلى مِصرَ بِآمالِ
The hopes of Egypt have for so long aspired to it
Do you begrudge Egypt its hopes?
فَاِبنوا عَلى بَرَكاتِ اللَهِ وَاِغتَنِموا
ما هَيَّأَ اللَهُ مِن حَظٍّ وَإِقبالِ
So build on God’s blessings and make use
Of what God has facilitated of fortune and acceptance
