The cup of life circulates
Whoever tastes it sheds inhibition
The night endures through it
And when it fades, daybreak rises
Through it, lives grew fond
Neither short nor long persisted
The boy drank it, not refraining
Nor the aged from intoxication
The noble tasted its draft
And the ignoble took the dregs
The love-struck obtained from it
What even the dignified obtained
It tilts over the universe
And topples the revolving orbit
The cup of death in a rough hand
From which there is no escape
It flows right, so whoever inclines
Left, it flowed to the left
The audacious perished when he raced
The desperate when he attacked
Predator of hopes, chances, sieges
Remnant of the groups that
Used to defend from enemies
Soldiers of the Caliphate, the Sultan’s troops
Guardians of the homelands
Their mountain passes narrowed
With you, O Solitude and wastelands
Your days in them, though
Long the distance of renown
The enemy knew you are
Bracelets for its strongholds
You stared at its den
Leaving it no rest
Until the lost found guidance
And the rebellious repented
A pillar of authority that had crumbled
Was honored again
Live for glory and pride, O best
Of sons, and for esteem
I cry for your tears flowing
And for your younger brothers' tears
And I wish you were men like
Your father, grown
And I want your house an edifice
Unparalleled in its foundation
From which no grace departs
Nor does left fortune abandon
