الليل بدموعه جاني

يا حمام نوّح ويايه

The night came to me with its tears,

Oh dove, lament and cry with me,

نوّح واشرح أشجاني

دا جواك من جنس جوايه

Lament and explain my sorrows,

For inside you is what is inside me,

الشوق هاجك من نوحك

وشكيت الوجد معايه

Your longing stirred you to grieve,

And you complained of passion with me,

أبكى بالدمع لنواحك

وتنوّح يا حمام لبكايه

I cry with tears for your grieving,

While you, oh dove, cry for my weeping,

بعد الأحباب لوّعنا

والصبر دواك ودوايه

After loved ones tormented us,

Patience is the cure for you and me,

مِسير الأيام تجمعنا

إن كان في الصبر بقايه

The passing days will reunite us,

If there is life remaining for patience,

إن لقيت عندي من حبي

سلطان العشق هوايه

If you find in me traces of my love,

Passion's reign is my state,

أنا خدت الدمع في قلبي

وأكتم في القلب أسايه

I have taken tears into my heart,

And keep my sorrows hidden inside.
