فيا طير يهنيك طيب الكرى

وطول العناق وفرط النعيم

O bird, may you be congratulated on the goodness of the dwellings,

And the length of embraces and the abundance of bliss.

سما بك غصن على كثرة

وضاق عن أثنين قصر عظيم

The branch carried you due to its abundance,

And a great palace was too narrow for two.

وما بيننا غير هذا الفناء

وهذا الجدار وهذا الحريم

Between us there is nothing but this courtyard,

This wall, and this sanctuary,

وهذى الرياض وهذى الحياض

وهذا النخيل وهذى الكروم

These gardens, these ponds,

These palm trees, and these vineyards.

ونحن كمن فرقت بينهم

ممالك في الحرب تحمى التخوم

Yet we are like those separated

By kingdoms at war protecting their borders.
