يا رب لا غبطة ولا حسد

ولا انتقاد فلست تنتقد

O Lord, no envy or jealousy

No criticism, for you do not criticize

أرى ثراء أفاده قلم

أخف منه في المسمع الوتد

I see wealth gained by a pen

Lighter than a tent peg to the ear

فهل أفاد البلاد فائدة

أم اعتني بالجهالة البلد

Did he benefit the country

Or care for the ignorance of the land
