1. بَني مِصرَ اِرفَعوا الغار

    وَحَيّوا بَطَلَ الهِندِ

    O sons of Egypt, lift up the banner

    And salute the hero of India

  2. وَأَدّوا واجِباً وَاِقضوا

    حُقوقَ العَلَمِ الفَردِ

    Fulfill your duty and pay

    The rights of the unique flag

  3. أَخوكُم في المقاساةِ

    وَعَركِ المَوقِفِ النَكدِ

    Your brother in adversity

    And the harsh moment of truth

  4. وَفي التَضحِيَةِ الكُبرى

    وَفي المَطلَبِ وَالجُهدِ

    And the great sacrifice

    And the demand and effort

  5. وَفي الجُرحِ وَفي الدَمعِ

    وَفي النَفيِ مِنَ المَهدِ

    And the wound and the tear

    And the exile from the cradle

  6. وَفي الرِحلَةِ لِلحَقِّ

    وَفي مَرحَلَةِ الوَفدِ

    And the journey for truth

    And the stage of delegation

  7. قِفوا حَيّوهُ مِن قُربٍ

    عَلى الفُلكِ وَمِن بُعدِ

    Stop and salute him from near

    On the ship and from afar

  8. وَغَطّوا البَرَّ بِالآسِ

    وَغَطّوا البَحرَ بِالوَردِ

    And cover the land with mourning

    And cover the sea with flowers

  9. عَلى إِفريزِ راجبوتا

    نَ تِمثالٌ مِنَ المَجدِ

    On Ifriza Rajabuta

    A statue of glory

  10. نَبِيٌّ مِثلُ كونفُشيو

    سَ أَو مِن ذَلِكَ العَهدِ

    A prophet like Confucius

    Or of that era

  11. قَريبُ القَولِ وَالفِعلِ

    مِنَ المُنتَظَرِ المَهدي

    Close in word and deed

    To the expected redeemer

  12. شَبيهُ الرُسلِ في الذَودِ

    عَنِ الحَقِّ وَفي الزُهدِ

    Resembling the messengers in protection

    Of truth and in asceticism

  13. لَقَد عَلَّمَ بِالحَقِّ

    وَبِالصَبرِ وَبِالقَصدِ

    He truly taught with truth

    And patience and moderation

  14. وَنادى المَشرِقَ الأَقصى

    فَلَبّاهُ مِنَ اللَحدِ

    And called upon the Far East

    So it responded from the grave

  15. وَجاءَ الأَنفُسَ المَرضى

    فَداواها مِنَ الحِقدِ

    And the sick souls came

    And he cured them of hatred

  16. دَعا الهِندوسَ وَالإِسلا

    مَ لِلأُلفَةِ وَالوُدِّ

    He called the Hindus and Islam

    To friendship and affection

  17. بِسِحرٍ مِن قُوى الروحِ

    حَوى السَيفَينِ في غِمدِ

    With magic from the powers of the spirit

    He sheathed the two swords in the scabbard

  18. وَسُلطانٍ مِنَ النَفسِ

    يُقَوّي رائِضَ الأَسدِ

    And a rule from the soul

    That strengthens the tamer of lions

  19. وَتَوفيقٍ مِنَ اللَهِ

    وَتَيسيرٍ مِنَ السَعدِ

    And harmony from God

    And facilitation from good fortune

  20. وَحَظٍّ لَيسَ يُعطاهُ

    سِوى المَخلوقِ لِلخُلدِ

    And a fortune given to no one

    Except the created for eternity

  21. وَلا يُؤخَذُ بِالحَولِ

    وَلا الصَولِ وَلا الجُندِ

    And not taken by strength

    Or cunning or armies

  22. وَلا بِالنَسلِ وَالمالِ

    وَلا بِالكَدحِ وَالكَدِّ

    Nor by lineage or wealth

    Or toil or effort

  23. وَلَكِن هِبَةُ المَولى

    تَعالى اللَهُ لِلعَبدِ

    But a gift from the Exalted Lord

    May God be exalted, to the servant

  24. سَلامُ النيلِ يا غَندي

    وَهَذا الزَهرُ مِن عِندي

    Peace of the Nile, O Gandhi

    And this flower is from me

  25. وَإِجلالٌ مِنَ الأَهرا

    مِ وَالكَرنَكِ وَالبَردي

    And reverence from the pyramids

    And the sphinx and the Nile Valley

  26. وَمِن مَشيَخَةِ الوادي

    وَمِن أَشبالِهِ المُردِ

    And from the elders of the valley

    And its rebellious youth

  27. سَلامٌ حالِبَ الشاةِ

    سَلامٌ غازِلَ البُردِ

    Peace to the milker of sheep

    Peace to the spinner of yarn

  28. وَمَن صَدَّ عَنِ المِلحِ

    وَلَم يُقبِل عَلى الشُهدِ

    And those who turned from molasses

    And did not incline towards honey

  29. وَمَن تركَبُ ساقَيهِ

    مِنَ الهِندِ إِلى السِندِ

    And those who straddle their legs

    From India to Sindh

  30. سَلامٌ كُلَّما صَلَّيـ

    ـتَ عُرياناً وَفي اللِبدِ

    Peace whenever you prayed

    Naked and in rags

  31. وَفي زاوِيَةِ السِجنِ

    وَفي سِلسِلَةِ القَيدِ

    And in the prison corner

    And in chains

  32. مِنَ المائِدَةِ الخَضرا

    ءَ خُذ حِذرَكَ يا غَندي

    From the green feast

    Take your precaution, O Gandhi

  33. وَلاحِظ وَرَقَ السيرِ

    وَما في وَرَقِ اللوردِ

    And observe the chess pieces

    And what is in the cards

  34. وَكُن أَبرَعَ مَن يَلـ

    ـعَبُ بِالشَطرَنجِ وَالنَردِ

    And be more skilled than those

    Who play with chess and dice

  35. وَلاقي العَبقَرِيّينَ

    لِقاءَ النِدِّ لِلنِدِّ

    And meet the geniuses

    As an equal to his equal

  36. وَقُل هاتوا أَفاعِيَكُم

    أَتى الحاوي مِنَ الهِندِ

    And say, bring your snakes

    The charmer has come from India

  37. وَعُد لَم تَحفِلِ الذامَ

    وَلَم تَغتَرَّ بِالحَمدِ

    And promise not to be distracted by blame

    Or fooled by praise

  38. فَهَذا النَجمُ لا تَرقى

    إِلَيهِ هِمَّةُ النَقدِ

    For this star cannot be reached

    By the ambitions of criticism

  39. وَرُدَّ الهِندَ لِلأُمـ

    ـةِ مِن حَدٍّ إِلى حَدِّ

    And return India to the nation

    From end to end
