O Lord, what is your judgement, what do you see

    In that vast, long dream

William rose up as an orator, yet he

Gave you little of your kingdom

He built beside you a kingdom of his own

If compared to it, yours seems insignificant

He bequeathed the world alive, yet he

    Left no crevice or path

In his view, half is for the Germans

And half for the Romans, so he claims

O Lord, say, is it your sword or his

That, O Lord, is the heavier, more decisive one

If, O Lord, his dreams prove true

Then the affairs of Muslims are in jeopardy

We are not Germans to get a share

Nor are we Romans to be given a wick

O Lord, do not forget your subjects on

A day your subjects are the humiliated group

The crime of ignorance upon its people

Is old, and ignorance is an evil guide

If only we did not extend a hand to evil

And if only the shade of peace remained soothing

A gang took risks upon us

God suffices us, an excellent Trustee
