I am the daughter of virtue, mother of the poor
I have no refuge but for those who come to me
You will not see around me except the destitute
When I give with both hands to those in need
I have little ones, all of them in school
Receiving the clear knowledge therein
And men, all of them like fathers to me
Loyal in their love, faithful and true
How many households, too narrow for them
After years of honor and dignity
Were saved by relief from their own doors
When the messenger of benefactors came to them
Say to those who hoard money and acquire possessions
Lend to God - what an excellent debtor!
And give charity, for it is a fortress of wealth
And peace of soul in this world and the next
Every year my night manifests itself
The night of the orphans, eye of the wretched
I complain to God about my family that night
And hope in God is the soul of the hopeless
