رأيتُ على صخرة عقربا

وقد جعلت ضربَها ديدنا

I saw a scorpion on a rock

And stinging became its habit

فقلت لها إنها صخرة

وطبعَك من طبعها أليَنا

So I said, it's a rock

And your nature is softer than its nature

فقالت صدقتَ ولكنني

أردت أعرِّفها من أنا

You spoke the truth, but I

Wanted to make it know who I am
