مُفَسِّرَ آيِّ اللَهِ بِالأَمسِ بَينَنا

قُمِ اليَومَ فَسِّر لِلوَرى آيَةَ المَوتِ

Interpreter of God's verses amongst us yesterday

Rise today, interpret for mankind the verse of death

رُحِمتَ مَصيرُ العالَمينَ كَما تَرى

وَكُلُّ هَناءٍ أَو عَزاءٍ إِلى فَوتِ

You know the fate of all peoples as you see

All joy or consolation passes away

هُوَ الدَهرُ ميلادٌ فَشُغلٌ فَمَأتَمٌ

فَذِكرٌ كَما أَبقى الصَدى ذاهِبَ الصَوتِ

Such is time, birth busy grief then death

Leaving a memory like an echo without sound
