1. دِيارُ مَكّةَ هذا خالدٌ دَلَفا

    فما احتيالُكِ في الطَّوْدِ الذي رَجَفَا

    The abodes of Mecca, this is Khalid advancing

    What is your deception about the hillock which quaked?

  2. طَوْدٌ مِنَ الشِّركِ خَانَتْهُ جَوانِبُهُ

    لَمّا مَشَى نحوهُ الطودُ الذي زَحَفا

    A hillock of polytheism, its sides betrayed it

    When the advancing hillock walked towards it

  3. إن الجبالَ التي في الأرضِ لو كفرتْ

    لَدَكَّها جَبلُ الإسلامِ أو نَسَفَا

    Indeed if the mountains on earth committed disbelief

    The mountain of Islam would crush it or blow it up

  4. لَمّا دَعاهُ بسيفِ اللهِ سَيِّدُهُ

    زَادَ السُّيوفَ بِهِ في عِزِّهَا شَرَفا

    When his master called him with the sword of Allah

    The swords increased in their honour through him

  5. ديارَ مَكّةَ أمَّا من يُسالِمُهُ

    فَلا أذىً يَتَّقِي منهُ ولا جَنَفَا

    The abodes of Mecca, as for whoever makes peace with him

    He neither fears harm from him nor injustice

  6. تلك الوصيَّةُ ما يَرْضَى بها بَدَلاً

    ولا يرى دُونَها مَعْدىً ومُنْصَرَفَا

    That is the bequest which he accepts instead

    And does not see below it any transgression or turning away

  7. لا تجزعي إنّهُ العهدُ الذي انبعثت

    أنوارُهُ تَصدَعُ العهدَ الذي سَلَفا

    Do not worry, it is the covenant for which

    Its lights burst the covenant which preceded

  8. ليلُ الأباطيلِ ما التفَّتْ غياهِبُهُ

    على الحقائِقِ إلا انجابَ وانْكَشَفَا

    The night of falsehoods, its darkness did not wrap

    Around the facts except it cleared up and was uncovered

  9. هُنَّ المنايا فيا للقومِ من بطلٍ

    رُمُوا بِهِ حَيَّةً من حَيَّةٍ خَلَفَا

    There the death blows, what a hero for the people

    They threw at him a snake from a snake one after another

  10. ضاقوا بِسعْدٍ فقالوا قائدٌ حَنِقٌ

    لو جاوز الحدَّ بعد الحدِّ ما وَقَفا

    They felt restricted by Sa'd so a furious leader said

    Had he transgressed the limit after the limit he would not have stopped

  11. واستصرخوا من رسولِ اللهِ ذا حَدَبٍ

    إذا استغاثَ به مُستصرخٌ عَطَفَا

    And they cried for help from the Messenger of Allah, the one with the mole,

    When a crying person calls for his help, he turns kindly

  12. هَبَّتْ إلى الشَّرِّ من جُهّالِهِم فِئَةٌ

    لم تَأْلُ من جَهلِها بَغياً ولا صَلَفا

    A group from their ignorant ones inclined towards evil

    Not satiated from their ignorance in enmity or obstinacy

  13. واستنفرت من قريشٍ كلَّ ذي نَزَقٍ

    إذا يُشارُ إليهِ بالبنانِ هَفَا

    And provoked from Quraysh every spiteful person

    When he is gestured to with fingers, he stirs

  14. فخاضها خالدٌ شعواءَ كالحةً

    إذا جَرَى الهولُ في أرجائِها عَصَفَا

    So Khalid engaged them violently like a burning flame

    When terror runs through its expanses, it rages

  15. رَمَى بها مُهَجَ الكُفّارِ فاسْتَبَقَتْ

    تَلْقَى البوارَ وتشكو الحَيْنَ والتَّلَفَا

    He threw their mixed crowds so they began

    Meeting destruction and complaining of loss and damage

  16. وقال قائلُهُم أسرفتَ من بطلٍ

    ما كان أحسنه لو جَانَبَ السَّرَفا

    And their speaker said, “You have transgressed, o hero

    It would have been better had you avoided excess”

  17. وهَاجَ همَّ أبي سُفيانَ ما وَجَدوا

    فَرَاحَ يَشفعُ فيهم جَازعاً أَسِفا

    The anger of Abu Sufyan was stirred since they did not find

    So he began interceding for them worried and sorrowful

  18. فَلانَ قلبُ رسولِ اللهِ مرحمةً

    وَرَقَّ من شِدَّةِ البطشِ الذي وَصَفَا

    But the heart of the Messenger of Allah had mercy

    And softened from the severity of the punishment he described

  19. وقال سِرْ يا رسولي فَانْهَ صَاحِبَنَا

    عَنِ القِتالِ فَحَسبي ما جَنَى وكَفَى

    The Prophet said, “Go, he is our companion

    It is enough what he attained, desist from fighting him”

  20. مَضَى الرسولُ يقولُ اقْتُلْ فَهَيَّجَها

    مَشْبُوبَةً هَتَفَتْ بالوَيْلِ إذ هَتَفَا

    The Messenger went saying, “Kill!” so he stirred them up

    Bewildered, they screamed “Oh dear!” when he screamed

  21. وَعَادَ والدَّمُ في آثَارِهِ سَرِبٌ

    والقومُ من خَلْفِهِ يدعون وَا لَهَفَا

    And he returned with blood in his tracks

    And the people behind him supplicating, “Oh for the ardour!”

  22. قال النَّبيُّ ألم تَذْكُرْ مَقالتَنا

    لِخَالِدٍ أعَصِيْتَ الأمرَ أم صَدَفا

    The Prophet said, “Did you not remember our words to Khalid?

    You disobeyed the order or was it a coincidence?”

  23. فقال بُورِكْتَ إنّ الله حَرَّفَها

    وما تَغَيَّرَ لي رأيٌ ولا انْحَرَفَا

    So he replied, “May you be blessed, indeed Allah diverted it

    And no opinion or direction changed for me”

  24. سُبحانَهُ إنّ أمرَ النّاسِ في يدِهِ

    لا يَعْرِفُ المرءُ من خَافيهِ ما عَرَفَا

    Glory be to Him! Indeed the affairs of people are in His hand

    One does not know the hidden of it what he knew

  25. لا يَجْزَعِ القوْمُ إنّ السَّيفَ مُرتَدِعٌ

    عمّا قليلٍ وإنّ النّصرَ قد أزِفا

    Let not the people grieve, indeed the sword is unsheathed

    For a little while and indeed victory has come near

  26. لم يرفعوا الصَّوتَ حتّى لاحَ بارِقُهُ

    تحت العَجَاجَةِ يجلو ضَوْؤُهُ السُّدُفا

    They did not raise their voices until its lightning gleamed

    Under the dark clouds, its glare makes the veils transparent

  27. هذا الزُّبَيْرُ تَرَامَى في كتائِبِهِ

    كالسَّيْلِ لا تُمسِكُ الأسدادُ ما جَرَفَا

    This is az-Zubayr, he dived into his brigades

    Like a torrent, the dams cannot hold back what it makes flow

  28. يَلْقَى كدَاءَ بِهِ والخيلُ راكضَةٌ

    ما قَالَ حَسّانُ من قبلِي وما ازْدَهَفا

    It meets battalions with it and the horses are galloping

    Hassan did not say before me what I exaggerated

  29. اللهُ أكبرُ جاء الفتحُ وابتهجتْ

    للمؤمنين نُفوسٌ سَرَّها وشَفَى

    Allah is the Greatest! Victory has come and the souls

    Of the believers rejoiced, it delighted them and healed them

  30. مَشَى النَّبيُّ يحفُّ النَّصرُ مَوكِبَهُ

    مُشَيَّعاً بجلالِ اللهِ مُكتَنَفَا

    The Prophet walked, victory escorting his procession

    Enveloped in the majesty of Allah, all-encompassing

  31. أضحى أُسامةُ من بينِ الصّحابِ له

    رِدْفاً فكان أعزَّ النَّاسِ مُرْتَدَفَا

    Usamah became from among the companions for him

    A rider behind, so he was the most honourable of people carried

  32. لم يبقَ إذ سَطعتْ أنوارُ غُرَّتِهِ

    مَغْنَىً بِمَكَّةَ إلا اهْتَزَّ أو وَجَفا

    There did not remain when the lights of his sanctity shone

    Any protection in Mecca except it shook or shuddered

  33. تحرَّكَ البيتُ حَتَّى لو تُطاوعُهُ

    أركانُهُ حَفَّ يَلْقَى رَكبَهُ شَغَفَا

    The House stirred until if its pillars obeyed it

    It would have collapsed to meet his riding beast out of passion

  34. وَافَاهُ في صَحبِهِ من كلِّ مُزْدَلِفٍ

    فلم يَدَعْ فيه للكُفَّارِ مُزْدَلَفا

    The emigrants joined him from every arrival

    So he did not leave therein for the disbelievers any arrival

  35. العاكفون على الأصنامِ أضحكهم

    أنّ الهوانَ على أصنامِهِمْ عَكَفا

    Those clinging to the idols, he made them laugh

    That humiliation befell their idols and lodged

  36. كانوا يَظنُّونَ أنْ لا يُسْتَبَاحَ لها

    حِمىً فلا شمماً أبدتْ ولا أنَفَا

    They used to think that no sanctity would be violated for them

    So neither a whiff or scent remained nor self-respect

  37. نامت شَياطِينُها عنها مُذَمَّمةً

    كأنّها لم تكن إذ أصبحَتْ كِسَفا

    Its devils slept besmirched from it

    As if they did not exist when morning came disappointing

  38. رِيعَتْ شيوخُ قريشٍ من قذائِفِها

    وَرِيعَ منها الخُزاعِيُّ الذي قُذِفَا

    The elders of Quraysh screamed from its missiles

    And the Khazaa’i who was pelted also screamed

  39. رأته يَنحَطُّ من عَليائِهِ فزعاً

    من بعد ما أفزعَ الأجيالَ مُشتَرِفَا

    She saw him descend from his arrogance in panic

    After he had panicked generations high-headed

  40. وما ذَرَى هُبَلٌ والطعْنُ يأخُذُهُ

    هل غَوَّرَ الدمعُ في عَيْنَيْهِ أم ذَرَفا

    Hubal did not see and the stab was taking him

    Did tears obscure his eyes or did they stream?

  41. لو كان للدمِ يجري حَولهُ دُفَعاً

    طُولُ المَدى مَثْعَبٌ في جوفِهِ نَزَفا

    If blood had flowed round him quickly

    The length of the race would be a haemorrhage in his insides

  42. رَمَى به اللهُ يحمِي البيتَ من عَبَثٍ

    يَعافُ باطِلَهُ مَن عافَ أو عَزَفَا

    Allah threw him to protect the House from harm

    He reconciles its falsehood, he reconciles or abstains

  43. لم يَبْقَ بالبيتِ أصنامٌ ولا صُوَرٌ

    زَالَ العَمَى واسْتَحَالَ الأمرُ فَاخْتَلَفَا

    No idols or images remained in the House

    Blindness departed and the matter changed and differed

  44. للجاهِلِيَّةِ رَسمٌ كان يُعجبها

    في دهرِها فَعَفَتْ أيامُها وَعَفَا

    The Jahiliyyah had a tradition which pleased it

    In its time but its days failed and perished

  45. لا كُنتَ يا زمنَ الأوهامِ مِن زَمَنٍ

    أرخَى على النّاسِ من ظَلْمَائِهِ سُجُفا

    If only you, O time of delusions, were not from a time

    Which cast over the people its darkness, gloomy

  46. إنّ الشريدَ الذي قد كان يظلمه

    ذَوُو قَرَابتِهِ قد عادَ فانْتَصَفا

    Indeed the outcast who was oppressed

    By his close relatives has now taken vengeance

  47. ردَّ الظلامَةَ في رفقٍ وإن عَنَفوا

    ولو يَشاءُ إذَنْ لاشْتَدَّ أو عَنَفَا

    He repelled the darkness gently even if they were rough

    And if He willed he could have become severe or rough

  48. إنّ الرسولَ لَسَمْحٌ ذو مُيَاسَرَةٍ

    إذا تملَّكَ أعناقَ الجُناةِ عَفَا

    Indeed the Messenger is easy, gentle

    If he controls the necks of the criminals, he forgives

  49. شكراً مُحَمَّدُ إنّ اللَّهَ أسبغَهَا

    عليكَ نُعْمَى تَرَامَى ظِلُّها وَضَفا

    Gratitude Muhammad! Indeed Allah granted it

    Upon you, a favour, its shade spreads and flows

  50. وَعْدٌ وَفَى لإمامِ المرسلينَ به

    واللَّهُ إن وَعَدَ الرُّسْلَ الكِرامَ وَفَى

    A promise fulfilled to the Imam of Messengers through it

    And Allah, if He promises the honourable messengers, fulfils

  51. خُذِ المحصَّبَ إن وَافَيْتَهُ نُزُلاً

    وَاذْكُرْ بِهِ ذلكَ الميثاقَ والحَلفا

    Take the valley if you reach it for lodging

    And remember through it that covenant and oath

  52. قد عادَ يكلفُ بالإسلامِ مِن رَشَدٍ

    مَن كان بالكفرِ من غَيِّ الهَوَى كَلِفا

    Guidance returned inviting to Islam

    Whoever was lost in the passions of desire wearing it

  53. ثم استقامَ على البيضَاءِ يَسْلكُها

    مَن كان يضربُ في العمياءِ مُعْتَسِفا

    Then he remained upright on the clear path, walking it

    Whoever was striking blindly in the dark, stumbling

  54. مَشَى طَليقاً إلى غاياتِهِ مرحاً

    وكان في القيد إن رام الخطى رسفا

    He walked freely to his goals, joyful

    While he would stumble if he attempted steps in shackles

  55. يغشى موارد للأيمان صافِيةً

    ما امتاحَ من مثلِها يوماً ولا اغْترَفا

    It covers pure springs for the oaths

    The like of which he never attained enjoyment or drinking

  56. عادوا طَهَارى فلم يَعْلَقْ بهم وَضَرٌ

    ممّا جَنَى الكفرُ قبل الفتحِ واقترفا

    They returned pure so no disgrace stuck to them

    From what disbelief attained before the conquest and committed

  57. تَتابعَ القومُ أفواجاً فآمَنَهم

    دِينُ السَّلامِ وأمسَى الأمرُ مُؤْتَلِفَا

    The people came in successive groups, so he believed them

    The religion of peace and the matter became harmonious

  58. كذلك الحقُّ يعلو في مَصَاعِدِهِ

    حتى يَنالَ الذَّرَى أو يَبلغَ الشَعفا

    Like that the truth rises in its ways

    Until it reaches the highest point or the lofty place

  59. مَرْمَى العُقُولِ إذا ما غَرَّهَا هَدَفٌ

    فلن تُريدَ سِواهُ إن رَمَتْ هَدَفَا

    The goal of intellects when an aim tempts them

    So they will not want other than it if they aimed a goal

  60. وما على الحقِّ من بأسٍ ولا حَرَجٍ

    إن هَوَّمَ العقلُ عنه مَرَّةً فَغَفَا

    And the truth has no distress or burden

    If the intellect inclined from it once then forgot

  61. إنّ الذي جَعَلَ الإسلامَ مَعقلَهُ

    أعلى لأُمَّتِهِ الأركانَ والسُّقُفا

    Indeed the one who made Islam his fortress

    Made its pillars and ceiling high for his nation

  62. لم يَرْضَ ما نَالَ من مجدٍ فأَورثَهُ

    مَجداً طريفاً وَعِزّاً منه مُؤْتَنَفا

    He did not accept what he attained of glory so he bequeathed it

    Continuous glory and honour newly attained from him

  63. شَتّانَ ما بين صَرْحٍ ثابتٍ رُفِعَتْ

    منه القِبابُ وصَرْحٍ واهنٍ خُسِفا

    Far apart is what is between a steady palace raised

    Domes raised from it and a deficient palace sunk

  64. لِتُنصتِ الأرضُ وَلْتَسْمَعْ ممالُكُها

    ماذا يقولُ لها الرَّعدُ الذي قَصَفَا

    So that the earth may listen and its realms hear

    What the thunder which cracked says to it

  65. شرائعُ الخيرِ يُلقيها مُحبّبةً

    شيخُ النَّبيِّينَ يَبغي البِرَّ واللَّطَفَا

    The laws of good, the Shaykh of the Prophets relates them

    Seeking righteousness and kindness

  66. الناسُ من آدَمٍ والبَغْيُ مَهْلَكَةٌ

    فَلْيَّتَقِ اللهَ منهم مَن قَسَا وجَفَا

    Mankind is from Adam and seeking corruption is destructive

    So whoever is hardhearted and unkind should fear Allah

  67. قَلْ للأُلَى خطبوا الأقوامَ أو كتبوا

    دعوا المنابِرَ والأقلامَ والصُّحُفَا

    Say to those misguided, argue with the people or write

    Leave the pulpits, pens and scriptures
