أيها القائدُ العظيم تقدَّمْ

أنت بالحرب والكتائب أعلمْ

O great leader, march forth,

You are most knowledgeable of war and battalions,

يطلُع النّصرُ من لوائك فجراً

في دياجي الوغى إذا النّقعُ أظلمْ

Victory dawns from your banner in the morn,

Amidst the dark turmoil when clamor grows dim.

رُبَّ هولٍ لبِستَ من صنعةِ الحر

بِ موشّىً بالمشرفيّةِ مُعَلمْ

Through your skill of war, you have endured much horror

Decorated with the most honorable badge.

تتهاوَى النّفوسُ عن جانبيهِ

غيرُ نفسٍ فيه تُصانُ وتُعصَمْ

Souls collapse around you,

Save a soul protected and preserved within.

إيه عزّامُ أنت للحقِّ ركنٌ

في يد اللهِ ثابتٌ ليس يُهدَمْ

You, pillar of truth and honor,

In God's hand, firm, unshaken, unmoved.

يطمعُ الحادثُ المُضلَّلُ فيهِ

ثمّ يعتادُه الرّشادُ فَيُحجِمْ

The misguided threat wishes you ill,

Then wisdom guides it to deter and submit.

ابعثِ الطّرفَ في جنودك واسأل

أين حامي اللّواءِ في كلّ مأزِمْ

Send forth your sight 'mongst troops and ask

Where is the flag's guardian in each peril?

أين من يمنعُ الذّمارَ ويغشى

لُجَجَ الموتِ والوغَى تتضرَّمْ

Who hinders ruin and covers over

Death and turmoil’s swelling, mounting realm?

كلُّهم نُصرةٌ لمصرَ ومجدٌ

لِبَنِيها فَاسْعَدْ بجيشكَ وَانْعَمْ

All are Egypt’s succor and glory

For her sons, so revel in your army and delight.

أنت علَّمتهم وسوف تراهم

من شُيوخِ الوغى فنعم المُعلِّمْ

You taught them and you will see them soon

As chaos’ elders - an excellent teacher you have been.

أنت أعددتَ للبلادِ حياةً

ليس من دُونها مَفازٌ ومغنَمْ

For this land, you made life itself, without which

There is no expected gain or earned prize.

ضلَّ من يَحسبُ الرجالَ سواءً

أفضلُ الناس من أعدَّ ونظّمْ

Misguided is he who sees men equal,

The best of men are those who prepare and organize.
