جَرَى سعداً ومرَّ بنا يمينا
قدومُكَ يا أعزَّ القادمينا
Good omen passed by blessing us
Your arrival, O most honoured of those arriving
تتابعتِ البشائرُ مُؤذناتٍ
بعودِكَ أنفُساً ذابت حنينا
Successive good tidings, heralds
Of your return, souls melted in yearning
فأسرعتِ القلوبُ مُصافحاتٍ
وأقبلتِ الوفودُ مُهنِّئينا
Hearts hurried to embrace
Delegations came congratulating us
ولاح على البحيرةِ منك نورٌ
جلا غمراتِها ومحا الدُّجونا
A light shone on the lake from you
Illuminating its darkness and erasing gloom
وليتَ أمورَنا والخطبُ قاسٍ
نُعالجهُ ويأبى أن يلينا
If only our affairs and dire straits
We could remedy, but it refuses to relent
وفقدُ الأمن أيسرُ ما رأينا
وهولُ القتلِ أهونُ ما لقينا
And lacking security is the easiest we have seen
And the horror of killing is the least we have met
فأحييتَ النُّفوسَ وكنَّ مَوتَى
وأبطلت الفسادَ وكان دينا
So you revived souls and they were as if dead
And undid corruption though it was faith
حكمتَ فكنتَ خيرَ الحاكمينا
وسُستَ فكنت أوفَى المصلحينا
You ruled so you were best of rulers
And guided so you were the most faithful of reformers
ألنتَ لنا الخطوبَ وقُمتَ فينا
مَقَاومَ تُعجز المتشبّهينا
You unlocked straits for us and stood amongst us
Resisting, humbling the pretentious
وأسَستَ الحضارةَ زاهياتٍ
معالمُها تسرُّ النّاظرينا
And founded splendid civilization
Its features delight the beholder
وأنبتَّ العلومَ بكلِّ أرضٍ
فتلك ثمارُها تُجنَى فُنونا
And cultivated sciences in every land
Such are its fruits reaped as wondrous arts
وأعززتَ اليتيمَ فتاهَ عُجباً
وراح يُنافسُ المتكبّرينا
And strengthened the orphan till he marched proud
And came to rival the arrogant
فديتُكَ من أبٍ يرعى البنينا
وباركَ فيك ربُّ العالمينا
لك الآثارُ خالدةً كباراً
يَدُمْنَ إلى المدى ما ينقضينا
تمرُّ بها الدهورُ مُكبّراتٍ
وتلقاها القرونُ مهلّلينا
لقد حمّلتَ نفسكَ فادحاتٍ
تهدُّ عزائمَ المتجبّرينا
تكدُّ وتركبُ الأخطار فرداً
تُقارعُها قِراعَ الباسلينا
رويدكَ إنّ نفس المرءِ منه
وإنَّ العَضْبَ قد يرتدُّ حينا
وإنّ الحاكمينَ وهم كِثارٌ
قلائلُ إن عددنا المصلحينا
جزاك اللهُ صالحةَ الأيادي
وحقَّق في معاليكَ الظنونا
