1. تَقَدَّمْ فهذا مَطلعُ الحقِّ والهُدَى

    ألستَ تَرى النُّورَ الذي جَاوَزَ المدى

    Advance, for this is the rise of truth and guidance

    Do you not see the light that has surpassed the horizon

  2. أتيتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ تَتبعُ دِينهُ

    وتُؤثِرُ خيرَ الزَّادِ فيمن تَزَوَّدا

    You came to the Messenger of Allah, following his religion

    And preferring the best provision for the one who stocks

  3. لكَ الله يا حجَّاجُ أَمْسَيْتَ مُشْرِكاً

    وأصبحتَ تَدعوهُ تَقِيَّاً مُوَحِّدَا

    For you, O Hajjaj, Allah - you became a polytheist in the evening

    And in the morning you call Him pure and monotheistic

  4. سَيغفِرُ ما أسلفتَ من جَاهليَّةٍ

    لَيالِيَ تأبَى أن يُطاعَ وَيُعْبَدَا

    He will forgive what ignorance you did in the pre-Islamic days

    Nights that refuse to be obeyed and worshipped

  5. سألتَ رسولَ اللهِ ما لو سألتَهُ

    سِواهُ لأعطاكَ الحُسَامَ المُهَنَّدَا

    You asked the Messenger of Allah what if you had asked him

    Other than him, he would have given you sharp double-edged swords

  6. تقولُ له دَعْنِي أزوِّرْ مَقَالةً

    تَسُوءُكَ إنّي أحذرُ المعشرَ العِدَى

    You say to him, let me visit and malign

    It would harm you, I fear the hostile tribe

  7. بِمكَّةَ لي مالٌ كثيرٌ مُوزَّعٌ

    أخافُ عليهِ أن يضيعَ وَيُفقدا

    I have a lot of money distributed in Mecca

    I'm afraid it will be lost and missed

  8. سأكتمُ إسلامِي وأُوذِيكَ إنّهم

    هُمُ القومُ لا يُؤذونَ إلا مَنِ اهْتدَى

    I will hide my Islam and harm you, they

    Are the people who do not harm anyone unless guided

  9. وَرُحْتُ تُحابِيهم وتَشْفِي صُدورَهم

    بِخرقَاءَ تستهوي الغَبِيَّ المُبَلَّدَا

    And you were inclined to befriend them and soothe their breasts

    With lies that seduce the stupid fool

  10. تقولُ لقد فازَ اليهودُ وأدركوا

    على الفاتحينَ الغُرِّ نَصْراً مُؤَيَّدا

    You say the Jews have won and attained

    Over the young conquerors a supported victory

  11. أغاروا فَرَدُّوهُم وأمسى مُحَمّدٌ

    أسيراً لدى ساداتِهم ليس يُفتَدَى

    They raided so they repelled them and Muhammad spent the evening

    A prisoner of their masters, irredeemable

  12. أبَوْا أن يَذوقَ القتلَ إلا بمكةٍ

    وإنّ له عمّا قريبٍ لَمَوْعِدَا

    They refused to let him taste death except in Mecca

    And he has, quite soon, an appointment

  13. فَطاروا سُروراً واستمرَّ غُواتُهم

    يُذِيعُونَهُ زُوراً وإفكاً مُرَدَّدا

    They flew with joy and their tyranny persisted

    Spreading it as lies and gossip echoed

  14. وَطَاشتْ عُقُولُ المسلِمينَ فأصبحوا

    حَيَارَى يَرَوْنَ العيشَ أَغْبَرَ أَنْكَدَا

    And the minds of the Muslims were confused, so they became

    Perplexed, seeing life gloomy and woeful

  15. وأرضَى الألى ضَلُّوا السَّبيلَ بشيرُهم

    لَدُنْ جَمَعوا مِن مالِهِ ما تَبَدَّدا

    And the misguided were pleased, they lost the way, their warner

    Since he gathered from his money what was squandered

  16. تَزَوَّدَ همّاً كلُّ من كانَ مُسلِماً

    وأَعْيَا على العبّاسِ أن يَتَجَلَّدَا

    Every Muslim prepared worries

    And Al-‘Abbas was tired of showing endurance

  17. فَأَرْسَلَ ما هذا الذي أنتَ قائِلٌ

    قُلِ الحقَّ يا حَجّاجُ وَانْقَعْ بِهِ الصَّدَى

    So he sent, what is this you are saying

    Tell the truth, O Hajjaj, and make it widely heard

  18. تَبَارك ربِّي إنّه جَلَّ شأنُهُ

    لَحَقٌّ عليهِ أنْ يُعِزَّ مُحَمَّدَا

    Blessed is my Lord, His status is Supreme

    It is true about Him that he honors Muhammad

  19. فقال نَعَمْ عُدْ يا غلامُ وَقُلْ له

    أبا الفضلِ أبْشِرْ وانتظِرْ مَقدمي غدا

    He said “Yes, go back, O boy, and tell him

    Abu Al-Fadl, rejoice and await my arrival tomorrow”

  20. فأَعتقَ من فَرَطِ السُّرورِ غُلامَهُ

    وَرَاجَعهُ مِن أمرِهِ ما تَعَوَّدَا

    He freed his slave from overwhelming joy

    And changed his mind about what he used to do

  21. ووافَاهُ حجّاجٌ بأنباءِ خَيْبَرٍ

    فَأمسَى الذي أخفَى من الأمرِ قد بَدَا

    Hajjaj met him with the news of Khaibar

    So the one who hid the matter became exposed

  22. وناشَدَهُ أن لا يُذيعَ حَدِيثَهُ

    ثَلاثَةَ أيّامٍ حِذاراً مِنَ الرَّدَى

    And adjured him not to spread his talk

    For three days, fearing harm

  23. فَلَمّا انقضَتْ رَاعَ الرجالَ بِطَلعَةٍ

    تَشُقُّ على الأعداءِ مَرْأَىً ومشهدا

    But when they passed, he startled the men with an apparition

    That was hard on the enemies to see and witness

  24. تَدَفَّقَ بِشراً وَجهُهُ وجَرَى السَّنا

    على صَفْحَتَيْهِ سَاطِعاً فَتَوقَّدا

    His face shone with good news and the teeth

    On his cheeks glistened radiantly, ignited

  25. يقولونَ لا تحزَنْ فيا للأُلى عَمُوا

    ويَا لكَ من حُزنٍ أقامَ وأَقْعَدَا

    They say “Do not grieve,” but woe to the misguided blind

    And woe to you from sadness that lodged and settled

  26. رماهم بأخبارِ الفُتوحِ فَغَاظَهُم

    وَردَّ ذَلِيلاً كُلَّ عاتٍ تَمرَّدا

    He cast at them the news of the conquests, so it angered them

    And he repelled humiliated every stubborn transgressor

  27. يَضِجُّونَ أينَ ابنُ العلاطِ أما لنا

    إليهِ سَبيلٌ إنّه كان مُفْسِدا

    They clamor, where is the son of Alat, do we not

    Have access to him? He used to make mischief

  28. لقد غَرَّنَا كَيْما يَفُوزُ بِمَالِهِ

    فحاقَ بنا من إثمِهِ ما تَعَمَّدا

    He really fooled us so that he could win his money

    So what he deliberately plotted befell us

  29. فواهاً لَهُ مِن ماكرٍ لو نُصِيبُه

    إِذَنْ لَجَزَيْناهُ الجزاءَ المشَدَّدا

    Woe to him for being so cunning, if we get him

    Then we would repay him the most severe punishment

  30. جَزاهُم إلهُ النَّاسِ ما ذنبُ مُسْلِمٍ

    كَريمِ السَّجايا ما أَسَاءَ ولا اعْتَدَى

    May the God of people reward them. What is the sin of a noble Muslim

    Who did no wrong or transgression?

  31. رَأى شَرَّهُمْ فاحتالَ يَحفظُ ماله

    عليهِ ويَأْبَى أن يُغادِرَهُ سُدَى

    He saw their evil, so he devised to preserve his money

    from him, and refused to neglect it in vain
