1. عَهدٌ لِمِصرَ مِنَ الحَياةِ جَديدُ

    أَرَأَيتَ شَعبَ النيلِ كيف يَسودُ

    A new life is promised to Egypt

    Have you seen how the Nile's people prevail?

  2. جَمَعت قُلوبَ الأُمَّتَينِ عَلى الرِضى

    ذِمَمٌ لِمِصرَ مَصونَةٌ وَعُهودُ

    The hearts of both nations concur in consent

    Egypt's pledges are protected and its covenants stand

  3. عَقَدت يَدُ اللَهِ القَوِيِّ حِبالَها

    وَالرُسلُ وَالمَلَأُ العَلِيُّ شُهودُ

    The hand of mighty God has tied its ropes

    The messengers and the Most High are witnesses

  4. طَرفٌ عَلى كَفِّ المَسيحِ يَمُدُّهُ

    طَرفٌ بِكَفِّ مُحَمَّدٍ مَشدودُ

    One side held in the Messiah’s palm extended

    The other tied fast in Muhammad’s clenched hand

  5. هَل تَنزَعُ الطَرَفَينِ مِن كَفَّيهما

    كَفٌّ تَرومُ حِماهُما وَتُريدُ

    Would you try to loose those two hands’ grip

    When a hand aspires to protect them both?

  6. آلَ المُقَوقَسِ وَهوَ عَهدٌ خالِدٌ

    يَرِثُ الدُنى وَالناسَ حينَ تَبيدُ

    The lineage of the Mukaukis, this is an eternal bond

    Inheriting eras as people pass away

  7. وَيُشَيِّعُ الأَهرامَ يَومَ يُصيبُها

    أَجَلُ الدُهورِ وَأَهلَها فَتَميدُ

    Bidding farewell to its pyramids when

    The appointed time for it and its people has run out

  8. أَنتُم لِمَجدِ النيلِ رُكنٌ قائِمٌ

    عالي الجَوانِبِ لِلخُلودِ مَشيدُ

    You are a pillar for the Nile’s glory

    Lofty of flanks, built to last

  9. حَمَتِ الشُموسُ جَلالَهُ وَأَعَزَّهُ

    مِن آلِ رَمسيسَ المُلوكُ الصيدُ

    Suns have protected its grandeur and strengthened it

    Among the kings, the royal hunters of Ramessis

  10. تُعليهِ تيجانٌ لَهُم وَأَرائِكٌ

    وَتَزيدُ فيهِ مَواكِبٌ وَجُنودُ

    Crowns for them and thrones

    And processions and armies increase

  11. تَمشي العُصورُ الشُمُّ بَينَ صُفوفِها

    وَالأَرضُ تَرجِفُ وَالمُلوكُ تَحيدُ

    Eras walk between its ranks

    The earth quakes and kings stray

  12. وَالشَعبُ يَسمَحُ خاشِعاً في مَوقِفٍ

    يَعلو لِبِنتاؤورَ فيهِ نَشيدُ

    The people bow submissively in positions

    Hymns to Pentawere exalted among them

  13. فِرعَونُ يُصغي في مَظاهِرِ عِزِّهِ

    وَالجُندُ حَولَ لِوائِهِ مَحشودُ

    The Pharaoh listens to displays of his might

    While troops around his banners throng

  14. فَيُجِلُّ شاعِرَهُ وَيُكرمُ قَومَهُ

    وَيُعَلِّمُ الشُعَراءَ كَيفَ تُجيدُ

    Honoring his poet, favoring his people

    And teaching poets how to excel

  15. المُلكُ عالٍ وَالمَواكِبُ فَخمَةٌ

    وَسَنا الحَضارَةِ واسِعٌ مَمدودُ

    The sovereign is exalted, the processions splendid

    The path of civilization lying long extended

  16. وَالناسُ شُغلٌ وَالبِلادُ رِعايَةٌ

    وَالعَيشُ مَجدٌ وَالفُنونُ خُلودُ

    The people are busy, the land cared for

    Life glorious, arts everlasting

  17. وَالنيلُ خِصبٌ في القُرى مُتَدَفِّقٌ

    وَالزَرعُ مِنهُ قائِمٌ وَحَصيدُ

    The Nile fructifying villages flows

    Crops from it standing and harvests reaped

  18. مِصرُ الخَزائِنِ في وِلايَةِ يوسُفٍ

    وَالعالَمونَ قَوافِلٌ وَوُفودُ

    Egypt's treasure stores in Joseph's trusteeship

    Caravans of scholars and delegations, a constant flood

  19. تُعطي فَتَحتَفِلُ البِلادُ وَتَحتَفي

    أُمَمٌ عَلَيها بِالحَياةِ تَجودُ

    It gives and countries celebrate, feast

    Nations upon it giving life bestowed

  20. أَبناءُ يَعقوبٍ حِيالَ عَزيزِها

    يَشكونَ ما جَنَتِ الخُطوبُ السودُ

    Jacob’s sons facing its minister

    Complain of the woes dark misfortunes once sewed

  21. يَستَعطِفونَ أَخاً رَموهُ بِكَيدِهِم

    فَإِذا المَكائِدُ أَنعُمٌ وَسُعودُ

    Pleading with a brother their schemes had rejected

    Thereafter bounties and ease flowed

  22. وَضَعَ الصِواعَ فَفي الرِحالِ جِنايَةٌ

    يُعيي الشَوامِخَ حَملُها وَيَؤودُ

    He placed the measure, but plots in their bags

    Would have wearied towering giants carrying such loads

  23. لا يَحمَدُ المَلِكُ الكَبيرُ أَمينَهُ

    حَتّى يُرَدَّ صواعُهُ المفقودُ

    Nor will the great king thank his trustee

    Until his missing bushel is bestowed

  24. تركوا أخاهم فاستبدَّ بشيخهم

    همّان همٌّ طارِفٌ وَتَليدُ

    They left their brother controlling their sheikh

    Two grieving worries, painful and concatenated

  25. يَجِدُ الحَياةَ نَدِيَّةً أَنفاسُها

    مِن ريحِ يوسُفَ وَالفُؤادُ كَميدُ

    He finds life gently breathed

    In Joseph’s wind, his heart is tenderized

  26. وَأَتى القَميصُ فَعادَ مِن بَعدِ العَمى

    بَصَرٌ لَهُ حَيُّ الضِياءِ حَديدُ

    The shirt arrived and from blindness

    Came back to him sharp-sighted vision

  27. جاءوا الكِنانَةَ يَنظُرونَ فَراعَهُم

    مُلكٌ لِيوسُفَ ما يُرامُ عَتيدُ

    They came to Canaan and were filled with awe

    A dominion for Joseph unforeseen

  28. مَلَأَ النَواظِرَ وَالقُلوبَ جَلالُهُ

    فَإذا الجَميعُ عَلى الجِباهِ سُجودُ

    His majesty filled sights and hearts

    Where all bowed foreheads down

  29. رُؤيا العَزيزِ تَأَوَّلَت وَمِنَ الرُؤى

    لِذَوي البَصائِرِ واقِعٌ مَشهودُ

    The minister’s dream interpreted, and dreams

    For prudent visions, witnessed and avowed

  30. إِنَّ الحَوادِثَ لِلرِجالِ تَجارِبٌ

    وَمِنَ المَصائِبِ ضائِرٌ وَمُفيدُ

    Events are tests for men

    Out of calamities, some harmful and some beneficial

  31. يَشكو الفَتى نَكَدَ الحَياةِ وَرُبَّما

    خَبَأَ المَيامِنَ عَيشُهُ المَنكودُ

    The youth complains of life’s miseries and perhaps

    His good fortune lies hidden, out of view

  32. يا أُمَّةَ الإِنجيلِ آمِناً بِهِ

    ما بِالنَبِيِّ وَلا يَسوعَ جُحودُ

    O people of the Bible, believing in it

    Neither the prophet nor Jesus denied

  33. الدينُ في أَمرٍ وَنَهيٍ واحِدٌ

    وَاللَهُ جَلَّ جَلالُهُ المَعبودُ

    Religion is one in order and prohibition

    And God, majestic is His majesty, the Worshipped

  34. دُنيا المَمالِكِ لا تُحَدُّ وَدينُها

    وَقفٌ عَلى دَيّانِها مَحدودُ

    The world of kingdoms has no limit, though faith

    Upon its Judge is qualified and defined

  35. دَرَجَ الزَمانُ عَلى المَوَدَّةِ بَينَنا

    وَأَراهُ يَنقُصُ وَالإِخاءُ يَزيدُ

    Time has marched on goodwill between us

    But I see it decrease as brotherhood is spread

  36. ذُخرُ البَنينَ نَصونُ مِن مَوروثِهِ

    ما صانَ آباءٌ لَنا وَجدودُ

    The legacy of ancestors that fathers

    Handed down to us should not be thin

  37. بِرّاً بِمِصرَ وَمِصرُ أَعظَمُ حُرمَةً

    مِن أَن يَضيعَ رَجاؤُها المَنشودُ

    Virtue to Egypt! Egypt greatest in sanctity

    That its coveted hopes be not squandered

  38. إِلّا يَكُن مَجدٌ أَشَمُّ وَسُؤدُدٌ

    فَحَياةُ شَعبٍ صالِحٍ وَوُجودُ

    Unless a glory loftier and more lasting

    The life of an upright nation and its presence

  39. شُدّوا القُلوبَ عَلى الإِخاءِ فَإِنَّها

    مِصرٌ وَإِنَّ بَلاءَها لَشَديدُ

    Bind your hearts to brotherhood, for trials upon her

    Are severe, of Egypt the beloved home

  40. أَنَرى المَمالِكَ كُلَّ يَومٍ حَولَنا

    تَسعى وَنَحنُ عَلى الرَجاءِ قُعودُ

    Shall we see realms every day around us

    Scrambling while we sit hoping?

  41. الأَمرُ مُشتَرِكٌ وَمِصرُ لَنا مَعاً

    في العالَمينَ مَنازِلٌ وَلُحودُ

    The matter concerns us all, and Egypt

    For both worlds is dwelling place and refuge nook

  42. وَالنيلُ إِن حَمَلَ القَذى وَإِذا صَفا

    فَهوَ الحَياةُ وَوِردُها المَورودُ

    If the Nile brought motes, still when clear

    It is life and its settlement guaranteed

  43. أَنَخونُ أَنفُسَنا وَنُفسِدُ أَمرَنا

    أَن قالَ واشٍ أَو أَرادَ حَسودُ

    Do we wrong ourselves and spoil our cause

    If some envier wished or malcontent?

  44. زَعَمَ العِدى أَنّا نَعُقُّ بِلادَنا

    زَعمٌ لَعَمرُ الأُمَّتَينِ بَعيدُ

    Hostility alleged we betray our land

    An allegation, by both nations negated

  45. مَن كانَ يَحكُمُ أَن نَعيشَ أَذِلَّةً

    بَينَ الشُعوبِ فَحُكمُهُ مَردودُ

    Who ruled that we should live disgraced

    Among the peoples? His rule is refuted

  46. لا نَعرِفُ اليَأسَ المُميتَ وَلا نَرى

    أَنَّ الحَياةَ سَبيلُها مَسدودٌ

    We know no deadening despair, we see

    No path before us deterred or blocked

  47. أَيُهانُ لِلأَهرامِ مَجدٌ باذِخٌ

    وَيُضامُ تَاريخٌ لِمِصرَ مجيدُ

    Insult to the pyramids while glory shining bright?

    Or history denied to famed Egypt?

  48. إِن تَبكِ مِصرُ عَلى مُؤثَّلِ مَجدِها

    فَلَسَوفَ يَرجِعُ عالِياً وَيَعودُ

    If Egypt weeps for its vanished magnificence

    Sublime it will return and be renewed
