انْبعِثْ في الأرضِ يا وَحْيَ السَّماءْ
واسْرِ يا نُورَ الهُدَى مِلءَ الفَضاءْ
Awaken in the earth, O heavenly inspiration,
And flow, O light of guidance, filling space.
انْبَعِثْ كالرُّوحِ يا رُوحَ الرَّجاءْ
وامْلأ الأكوانَ مِثلَ الكهرباءْ
Awaken like the spirit, O spirit of hope,
And pervade the universe like electricity.
أنتَ مَعْنَى الخَلْقِ أو سِرُّ البَقاءْ
يا حياةً ليسَ عنها مِن مَحيدِ
You are the meaning of creation or the secret of survival.
O life from which none can evade,
للبرايا من شقِيٍّ وَسَعَيدِ
امْلأَي الدُّنيا وَزِيدي ثُمَّ زِيدي
For the wilderness and its wretched and fortunate.
Fill the world and increase, then increase it more!
لا تَخَافي أَنْ تَزُوليِ أو تَبِيدي
أنتِ أُمُّ الدّهرِ أو أُخْتُ القضاءْ
Have no fear you will pass away or perish.
You are the mother of eternity or the sister of destiny.
أَوَّلٌ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِن آخِرِ
يَرْمُقُ الدُّنيا بِعَيْنَيْ ساخِرِ
The First, with no last,
Glances at the world with mocking eyes,
يَترامَى في عُبابٍ زاخِرِ
من جَلالٍ عبقريٍّ فاخِرِ
Tossed about in abundant, foaming,
Magnificent, ingenious splendor,
شامِخَ العِرْنينِ عالي الكِبرياءْ
يا جلالَ الخلدِ في العزّ المُقيمْ
With towering glory and lofty greatness.
O majesty of eternal might!
أيّ مُلكٍ مِثْلُ ذا المُلْكِ العظيمْ
يتجلىَّ في سَلامٍ وَنَعيمْ
What kingdom is like this great kingdom
Manifest in peace and bliss,
مِن عطاءِ اللهِ ذي الفضل العميمْ
وهو مَوْلَى كُلِّ فَضْلٍ وعَطَاْءْ
From Allah’s abundant overflowing grace?
He is the patron of all merit and favor.
أَنْزَلَ القُرآنَ نُوراً وهُدَى
في بيانٍ بالِغٍ أقْصَى المَدى
He sent down the Qur’an, a light and guide,
In supremely eloquent expression,
يَتَوالىَ الصَّوتُ منه والصَّدَى
إنّ هذا الكونَ لم يُخلَقْ سُدَى
Its sounds and echoes successive,
Surely this universe was not created vainly.
فاسْتَفِيقي يا ظُنونَ الجُهَلاءْ
اسْتَفِيقي إنّه صُبحُ اليَقينْ
Awaken, O speculations of the ignorant!
Awake! This is dawn’s certainty.
جاءَ طلقَ الوجهِ وضّاحَ الجبينْ
يتحدَّى الناسَ بالحقِّ المُبينْ
He came bright of face and clear of brow.
Defying people with the clear proof,
ويَسوسُ الأمرَ من دُنيا ودينْ
في نظامٍ من سَلامٍ وإخاءْ
Ordering worldly and religious affairs
In a system of peace and brotherhood.
يطفِئُ الشَّرِّ بأنفاسِ الجُنَاةْ
تَنْضَوِي فيها جناياتُ الحياةْ
His lifebreath extinguishes evil
Embracing therein life’s offenses.
فَإذا القومُ رُفاتٌ في رُفاتْ
وإذا ما قدّموا مِن سَيِئاتْ
People become gentle spirits among spirits
And whatever wrongs they committed
طارَ في آثارهم مِثلُ الهَباءْ
يا طبيبَ الدّاءِ يُودِي بالطّبيبْ
Vanish without a trace.
O healer of affliction who destroys the healer!
ما لِقومِي مِنْكَ في شكٍّ مُريبْ
غاب لُبُّ الأمرِ عن عِلمِ اللّبيبْ
My people have no doubt or suspicion of you.
The heart of the matter escapes the minds of the wise.
يا عجيباً دُونَهُ كلُّ عجيبْ
أين من سِرِّكَ سِرُّ الكِيميَاءْ
O wonder! Every wonder falls short of your wonder.
Where is the secret of alchemy next to your secret?
صانِعٌ يُحسِنُ إنشاءَ النُّفوسْ
فَهْيَ في إشراقِها مِثلُ الشُّموسْ
A creator excellent at fashioning souls,
Radiant in their illumination like suns,
وحكيمٌ تَنْحَني شُمُّ الرُّؤوسْ
تَتلَقَّى من عِظاتٍ وَدُروسْ
While the wise bow down their heads
To receive his preaching and lessons
ما وَعَى للمؤمنين الحُكماءْ
وَكَّلَ اللهُ به مِن أَهْلِهِ
Beyond what the believing sages conceived.
God appointed of his household
مَعْشراً ضَمُّوا القُوَى في ظِلِّهِ
وبَنُوا بُنيانَهمْ مِن أجلِهِ
A group who sought refuge in his shade,
Building by his grace their edifice.
فجَزاهم ربُّهم من فضلهِ
صَالِحَ الأجرِ ومَوفورَ الجزاءْ
So their Lord rewarded them with His bounty
With recompense and abundant reward.
عَلِّمُوهُ الناسَ إذ مالَ الهَوَى
بِزَمانٍ صَدَّ عنه فَغَوى
They call people since desire ran astray
In an age that turned away and went astray.
لو جَرَى الأمرُ عليهِ ما الْتَوَى
هَلْ لأهلِ الأرضِ من هادٍ سِوَى
Had this course continued its winding path,
Would people on earth have any guide but him
ما وَعَى الذّكرُ من الآي الوِضاءْ
يا رِجَالَ اللهِ زِيدُوا اللَه نَصْرا
Beyond what the verses of light conveyed?
O Allah, increase Your party victory
واعْصْفُوا بالدِّهرِ إيماناً وصَبْرا
لا تَلِينُوا إنّها الأحداثُ تَتْرَى
And confront the times with faith and patience.
Do not lose heart though events unfold,
والجهادُ الحقُّ بالأبطالِ أَحْرَى
يا رجالَ اللِه سِيروا باللِّواءْ
And jihad is most befitting of heroes.
O Allah’s party, carry high his banner!
أَنتمُ القُوَّادُ خُوضُوا بالجنودْ
لُجَجَ الهيجاءِ من حُمْرٍ وسُودْ
You are the commanders, lead the battalions
Into tumultuous seas of red and black
نَزِّهُوا الإسلامَ عن دعوى الجُمودْ
أَفَيُدْعَى جامداً رُوحُ الوُجودْ
Vindicate Islam from claims of inertness.
Can the soul that animates all be alleged dead?
هكذا تَعْمَى قُلوبُ الأغبياءْ
الكِفاحُ اشتدَّ والبأسُ احْتَدَمْ
Thus are blinded the hearts of fools.
The struggle intensified and chaos erupted.
ربَّنا انْصُرْ قومَنا في المُزْدَحَمْ
واجْعَلِ الإسلامَ مرفوعَ العَلَمْ
Our Lord, aid our nation in the fray
And raise on high the banner of Islam.
ربَّنا لا تُخْزِنا بين الأُمَمْ
إنّه المجدُ وإرثُ الأنبياءْ
Our Lord, disgrace us not among the nations,
Surely this is glory, the heritage of prophets.
كنْ لنا فالأمرُ أمرُ القادرِ
ما لِشَعْبٍ عاجزٍ من ناصِرِ
Be for us, for the matter is that of the Omnipotent.
What can a helpless nation offer its defender?
لا تَدَعْنَا مَغْنمَاً لِلظّافرِ
واسْتَجبْها دعوةً من شاعِرِ
Leave us not as spoils for the victor.
Answer the call of a poet
يبتغِي وَجْهَكَ بين الشُّعراءْ
يُرسِلُ الشّعرَ شُعاعاً سَارِيا
Seeking only Your approval among poets.
He sends poetry streaming like rays,
ودماً في كلِّ عِرْقٍ جاريا
يرتوِي منه نقيّاً صافياً
And blood coursing every vein,
From which it drinks, pure and clear.
ربِّ فاجْعَلْني إماماً هاديا
واهْدنِي في المؤمنينَ الأصفياءْ
O Lord, make me a rightly guiding leader
And guide me among those made pure.
