ألا فاذكروا من قومنا كُلّ مِقدامِ
ففي هذه الذكرى حياةٌ لأقوامِ
Remember all the valiant ones of our people
In this remembrance there is life for generations
وما النّاسُ إلا الخالدون على البِلىَ
وصَرفِ الليالي من هُداةٍ وأعلامِ
People live on only through those who survive ruin
And the passage of nights by guides and symbols
حقائقُ ما في الدّهرِ من كلِّ قائمٍ
وَجُلُّ البرايا من فضولٍ وأوهامِ
The realities in life are but the living
The rest are illusions and fantasies
همُ ثروةُ الأجيالِ لولاهمُ انْطَوتْ
على فاقةٍ ما تُستطاعُ وإعدامِ
They are the wealth of generations without them
Is only poverty beyond all means
إذا المرءُ لم يَعملْ لمِا بعد يَومهِ
طَوَى كلُّ حيٍّ ذكرَهُ بعد أيّامِ
When a person works not for after his day
Every living thing buries his memory after some days
سلامٌ على الحيِّ المقيمِ وإن طوى
إلى المنزلِ الأقصى ثلاثةَ أعوامِ
Peace be upon the resident one though he has folded
To the farthest house three years
على الكوكبِ الطَّافي على لُجَّةِ الرَّدى
إذا ما طوى الأقمارَ طُوفانُهُ الطّامي
On the orbiting planet in the abyss of misery
When the fateful moons fold their overflowing tide
على القَدَرِ المُوفي سلاماً ورحمةً
على كلّ شعبٍ ذي هُمومٍ وآلامِ
Peace and mercy be upon the destined
And every nation with worries and pain
خليفةُ أَهْدَى قادةِ النّيلِ خُطَّةً
وأَبْسَلهم إن صيحَ بالذّائدِ الحامي
Khalifa guided the leaders of the Nile
And emboldened them when danger called
وأثبتِهم في الحادثِ النُّكرِ موقفاً
وأَنْفذِهم سَهْماً إذا أخطأ الرامي
He steadied them in times of adversity
And supported them when the archer missed
يُجانبُ ساري الرُّعبِ ساحة قلبهِ
إذا هَمَّ يَلْقَى الخطبَ بالمنكبِ السامي
He keeps the flag of dread off his heart
When he intends to take on the sublime task
يَرى شرَّ ما تَلْقَى البلادُ من الأذى
وُقوفَ بنيها بين يأسٍ وإحجامِ
He sees the terrible harms that befell the country
And its people torn between despair and reluctance
رَسولُ حياةٍ للشُّعوبِ ويقظةٍ
يُهيبُ بقومٍ في الكنانةِ نُوَّامِ
A messenger of life for nations and a wake-up call
To a dormant tribe steeped in coziness
فما زالَ حتَّى ريعَ من وَثَباتِها
على بأسهِ الرِّئبالُ ذو المخلب الدّامي
He kept at them until their leaps
Repelled the grizzly claw-handed beast
