1. إن جَلَّ غُنْمُ المسلِمينَ بخيبرٍ

    فَلَما غَنِمْتِ أجلُّ منه وأكبرُ

    The Muslims gained abundant spoils at Khaybar,

    Yet when you were gained, you were more glorious and greater,

  2. اللَّهُ أكبرُ يا عروسَ مُحمّدٍ

    هذا هو الشّرفُ الأعمُّ الأوفرُ

    God is the Greatest! O bride of Muhammad,

    This is the most comprehensive and abundant honour,

  3. هذا مكانكِ عالياً ما مِثلُه

    في السُّؤدُدِ العالي مَكانٌ يُؤثَرُ

    This is your lofty position that has no equal,

    In the sublime terrace a preferred place,

  4. يا دُرّةً صِينَتْ لِتاجِ جَلالةٍ

    الدُّرُّ مِن لَمحاتِهِ والجوهرُ

    O pearl adorned for the crown of majesty,

    The pearl and gem from its glances,

  5. الشَّأنُ شأنُكِ أنتِ خيرُ صَفِيَّةٍ

    والتَّاجُ أنتِ به أحقُّ وأجدرُ

    Your status is your status for you are the best Safiyya,

    And the crown—you have the greatest right and worthiness to it,

  6. أدركتِ بالإسلامِ في حَرَمِ الهُدَى

    جُهْدَ المنى مما يُتاحُ ويُقدَرُ

    You attained through Islam in Mecca’s sanctuary,

    The ultimate yearning goal that is feasible and estimable,

  7. أدركتِ دُنيا الصالحينَ ودِينَهمْ

    فظفرتِ بالحُسنى ومِثلُكِ يَظْفَرُ

    You attained the righteous people’s world and their religion,

    So you succeeded and the likes of you succeed,

  8. ولقد غَنيتِ وَدُونَ ما تَجدِينَهُ

    دُنيا مُذمَّمةٌ وَدِينٌ مُنْكَرُ

    You have been enriched beyond what you may acquire—

    A contemptible world and objectionable religion.

  9. ذُعِرَ الوطيحُ فأسلمتكِ حُماتُه

    وحَللتِ بالحصنِ الذي لا يُذعَرُ

    Khaybar’s chieftain was terrified and subdued by you,

    And you entered the impregnable castle,

  10. ما مِثلُ رُؤياكِ التي كانت أذىً

    رُؤيا تُفسَّرُ للنِّيامِ وَتُعْبَرُ

    Unlike the dream you had that was distressing,

    A dream expounded for the sleeping and interpreted—

  11. أَفَكنتِ ناسيةً فجدَّدَ ذِكرَها

    أثرٌ بِعينكِ يا صفيّةُ أخضرُ

    Were you forgetful that he renewed the memory of it?

    By your eye, O Safiyya, there is a green trace!

  12. يا وَيلتَا لابنِ الربيعِ يغيظُه

    هذا المقامُ الصَّعبُ كيف يُيَسَّرُ

    Woe to the son of Rabee’a! He is enraged

    By this arduous position—how was it facilitated?

  13. لَطمتكِ من سَفهٍ وسُوءِ خَلِيقَةٍ

    يَدُهُ وتلكَ جنايةٌ ما تُغْفَرُ

    He struck you out of ignorance and evil nature—

    That crime is unforgivable.

  14. ماذا رَأيتِ من الذي أبغضتِهِ

    ونَقمتِ ما يَرضى وما يَتخيَّرُ

    What did you see about the one you hated

    And blamed—neither pleased by him nor choosing him?

  15. أردَى أباكِ وهَدَّ زوجَكِ بأسُهُ

    وأصابَ قومَكِ منه موتٌ أحمرُ

    His might slew your father and felled your husband,

    And his blow befell your tribe—a reddened death!

  16. ماذا رأيتِ أما عَذرتِ سُيوفَهُ

    وَعَلِمتِ أنَّ عدوَّه لا يُعذَرُ

    What did you see? Did you not excuse his swords

    And know that his enemy is not excused?

  17. ولقد بَلوتِ خِلالَهُ فوجدته

    نِعمَ الخليلُ إذا يَسوءُ المَعشرُ

    You tested him thoroughly so you found him

    A most excellent comrade when trouble the companionship,

  18. أحببتهِ الحبَّ الكثيرَ على القِلَى

    ولَحُبُّ ربِّكِ ذي الجلالةِ أكثَرُ

    You loved him abundantly despite the dearth,

    Yet your love for your Lord of Majesty is greater,

  19. ذَهَب الرُّعاةُ فما يَسُرُّكِ صاحبٌ

    ورعاكِ صاحبُكِ الأبرُّ الأطهرُ

    The shepherds have gone—no companion gladdens you,

    And your companion, the most righteous and purest, has pastured you,

  20. آثرتِهِ ورَضيتِ رَبَّكِ إنّها

    للَّهِ عِندكَ نِعمةٌ لا تُكْفَرُ

    You chose him and were content with your Lord—truly

    With you it is a blessing from God that cannot be covered.

  21. أعْلَى مَحَلَّكِ فانعمي وتقدّمي

    بأجلِّ ما يُثْنَى عليه وَيُشْكَرُ

    Elevate your status—so enjoy and progress

    With the best of what is praised and thanked!

  22. ولأنتِ إن عظُمتْ فوائدُ خيبرٍ

    أسْنَى وأعظمُ ما أفادتْ خَيبرُ

    If Khaybar’s gains have become great,

    How much finer and greater were Khaybar’s gains!

  23. يا قُبَّةَ المُختارِ دُونَكِ ما بَنَى

    في مُلكِهِ كِسْرَى وشيَّدَ قيصرُ

    O dome of the Chosen One—beneath you what Kisra built in his kingdom

    And what Caesar erected,

  24. مَثوىً يهولُ الناظرين ومنظرٌ

    عَجَبٌ يروعُ مقامُه والمظهرُ

    An abode that terrifies onlookers and a spectacle

    Wondrous—its location and features astounds,

  25. فيهِ الجلالُ الضَّخمُ ترتدُّ المنى

    من دُونِهِ مذعورةً تتعثّرُ

    In it is formidable splendor—hopes recoil from it,

    Stumbling, terrified, blocked in their course,

  26. فيهِ السَّلامُ لكلِّ جِيلٍ يُبتغَى

    فيه النظامُ لكلِّ عصرٍ يُذخَرُ

    In it there is safety for every generation that seeks,

    In it there is governance for every era treasured,

  27. فيه الحياةُ تُسَلُّ من أكفانِها

    هَلْكَى الشُّعوبِ إذا تموتُ وتُقبَرُ

    In it there is life slipping out of its shrouds,

    The perishing of nations when they die and are buried!

  28. إيهٍ أبا أيوبَ ما بِكَ رِيبةٌ

    إنّ المحبَّ على الحبيبِ لَيسهرُ

    Alas, O Abu Ayyub, why do you have such doubt?

    Lovers stay awake for their beloved,

  29. تَأبَى الكرَى وتطوفُ حول مُحمّدٍ

    والسَّيفُ يَقظانُ المضاربِ يَنظرُ

    Fate refuses yet circles around Muhammad

    While the sword keeps vigil, observing,

  30. ماذا تخافُ على حبيبِكَ من أذىً

    واللَّهُ كافٍ ما تخافُ وتَحذرُ

    What harm do you fear will afflict your beloved?

    God suffices—so do not fear or take precautions!

  31. اهْنَأْ بدعوتِهِ فتِلكَ وقايةٌ

    من كلِّ ذِي جَبرِيَّةٍ يتنَّمرُ

    Congratulate him for his supplication is protection

    Against every tyrant who is reckless and insolent.

  32. تِلكَ الولائمُ في رِحابِ مُحمّدٍ

    شَتَّى تُسَرُّ بها النُّفُوسُ وتُحْبَرُ

    Those are banquets in the sanctuary of Muhammad,

    Dazzling the souls and enchanting them,

  33. الصَّحبُ من فرحٍ عليها عُكَّفٌ

    والرُّسْلُ أجمعُ والملائكُ حُضَّرُ

    The companions overwhelmed by joy engrossed over it

    And all the messengers and angels are present,

  34. عُرْسُ النبيِّ وأيُّ عُرسٍ مِثلُه

    هَيهاتَ تلك فضيلةٌ لا تُنْكَرُ

    The wedding of the Prophet—and which wedding rivals it?

    That is a merit than cannot be denied!
