Over the highest sorrows the flags flutter
Or is Egypt's glory founded on blood?
Say to the grieving youths: Restrain yourselves
Worries have passed and pains are gone
Only truth remains witnessing its feast
A smiling homeland for you all
It inspired your martyrs, so march forward
Life's pillar is daring
How can one who loves his country settle
While the people stumble and the homeland constricts
We know when our rights are usurped
That life becomes prohibited to the souls
Whoever asked us for peace, we have none
Without Egypt and Egypt's right, no peace
We protect the sanctuary of its independence and guard it
Until nations submit to its glory
And we deny, though the enemies disapprove
No blame to men for loyalty
Don't deny, O Egypt, the merit of our affliction
We are truthful and honorable people
For you whatever sacrifice you wanted, here are
Our souls if only the bodies suffice
Was there a day you called: "Is there a supporter?"
Except gushing blood and piercing blades
The youth arose organized in columns
Marching, no discord or hesitation
They advance daring and proud
While fire pours and bullets pour
Why hesitation at the scene, that day
Azrael throws and El-Manoun arrows
O martyrs' places of death, where is their blood
Did it quench or satisfy anyone
Did justice put out the anguish, did right
Take its place and order settle
Your memory remains resonating, but is there
Any people, and from your poets, days
