وَفدُ البحيرةِ جاء طَوْع يَقينهِ

يَقضِي لك الحقَّ المُؤَكَّدَ شاكرا

The envoy of the lake came willingly

To fulfill your undoubted right with gratitude

حَصَّنْتَ دُستورَ البلادِ وصُنْتَهُ

عن أن يكون أذىً لِقومكَ ضائرا

You fortified the constitution of the country and protected it

Lest it should harm your people, being harmful

يَأبَى الأُلىَ خذلوا الكِنانةَ أن يَرَوْا

لبني الكِنانةِ في الشّدائدِ ناصرا

The exalted refuse that the loyalists see

For the loyalists in adversities, a supporter

إن ينتهوا يَغْفِرْ وإن يتمرَّدُوا

يجدوك غَلَّابَ الصَّرامةِ قاهرا

If they desist He forgives, and if they rebel

They will find you a severe conqueror, subduing

ما الحكمُ تُنكِرُهُ البِلادُ مخازياً

كالحكمِ تَعرفُهُ البلادُ مَفَاخرا

No rule that the country denies disgracefully

Like the rule the country recognizes proudly

يستنصرون عليك خَصْمَ بِلادِهم

فَيلومُهم ويَصُدُّ عنهم سَاخِرا

They seek help against you, adversary of their country

So He blames them and blocks them off, scoffing

أنت الملومُ وإن قَضَيْتَ ذِمَامَها

لِمَ تُرشِدُ الأعمى وتهدي الحائرا

You are blamed even when you hold their reins

Why guide the blind and lead the lost?
