1. وَفدَ الكِنانَةِ هَل حَمَلتَ رَجاءَها

    أَم قَد حَمَلتَ أَمانَةَ الأَوطانِ

    The envoys of Kenya, did they carry her hope

    Or did they carry the nation’s trust?

  2. الدَهرُ عَينٌ وَالمَمالِكُ أَلسُنٌ

    وَالنيلُ قَلبٌ دائِمُ الخَفَقانِ

    Time is an eye, kingdoms are tongues

    And the Nile a heart beating forever

  3. قُل لِلأُلى وَزَنوا الشُعوبَ تَذَكَّروا

    في مِصرَ شَعباً راجِحَ الميزانِ

    Say to those gone astray: nations, weigh yourselves

    In Egypt you’ll find balanced scales

  4. وَإِذا رَماكَ أولو الخُصومَةِ فَاِرمِهِم

    بِالحُجَّةِ الكُبرى وَبِالبُرهانِ

    If foes pelt you with accusations, pelt them

    With supreme proof and clear evidence

  5. وَاِصدَع غَيابَةَ كُلِّ شَكٍّ مُظلِمٍ

    بِشِهابِ عِلمٍ ساطِعٍ وَبَيانِ

    Shatter the gloom of every dark doubt

    With a shining beam of knowledge and eloquence

  6. سَكَنَت أَكُفُّ الضارِبينَ عَنِ الظُبى

    فَاِضرِب بِقَلبٍ قاطِعٍ وَلِسانِ

    The hands striking the innocent have stilled

    So strike with a heart and tongue that cut

  7. إِنَّ الحَياةَ لَنا لَحَقٌّ ثابِتٌ

    وَالحَقُّ أَغلَبُ قاهِرُ السُلطانِ

    Life is our inalienable right

    And right defeats even the mightiest ruler

  8. ما لِلقَوِيِّ إِذا تَجاوَزَ حُكمُهُ

    يَبغي التَعَسُّفَ بِالضَعيفِ يَدانِ

    When the strong exceed the bounds of justice

    Seeking to oppress the weak they succumb
