1. طَرِبَ الحَطيمُ وَكَبَّرَ الحرَمانِ

    وَاِعتَزَّ دينُ اللَهِ بَعدَ هَوانِ

    The ruins rejoiced and deprivation glorified,

    And the religion of God was honored after humiliation.

  2. قامَت سُيوفُ الفاتِحينَ بِنَصرِهِ

    وَالنَصرُ بَينَ مُهَنَّدٍ وَسِنانِ

    The swords of the conquerors rose to support it,

    And victory lies between Muhannd and Sinan.

  3. ظَمِئَت جَوانِحُهُ إِلى حَرِّ الوَغى

    فَسَقَتهُ شُؤبوبَ النَجيعِ القاني

    Their souls thirsted for the heat of battle,

    So the clouds of spears quenched them with heavy rain.

  4. تَعدو الذِئابُ عَلى مُمَنَّعِ غيلِهِ

    وَالأُسدُ غَضبى وَالسُيوفُ عَوانِ

    The wolves trespass on the sanctuary of his glory,

    While the lion is wrathful and the swords are allies.

  5. لا قُبَّةُ الإِسلامِ قائِمَةٌ وَلا

    مُلكُ الخَلائِفِ ثابِتُ الأَركانِ

    The dome of Islam no longer stands,

    Nor is the kingdom of the Caliphs firmly established.

  6. يَمضي تُراثُ المُسلِمينَ مُوَزَّعاً

    وَالمُسلِمونَ نَواكِسُ الأَذقانِ

    The heritage of the Muslims is divided,

    While the Muslims bow their heads in shame.

  7. ما بَينَ مِصرَ إِلى طَرابُلسٍ إِلى

    عَدَنٍ إِلى القَوقازِ فَالبَلقانِ

    From Egypt to Tripoli, Aden, the Caucasus and Balkans -

    The Cross attacked it with the strike of a hater,

  8. كَرَّ الصَليبُ عَلَيهِ كَرَّةَ حانِقٍ

    ضَرِمَ العَداوَةِ ثائِرِ الشَنآنِ

    Kindling enmity, raging with vengeance.

    Leaping at it from behind and before,

  9. مُتَوَثِّبٍ مِن خَلفِهِ وَأَمامِهِ

    مُتَأَلِّبٍ يَلقاهُ كُلَّ أَوانِ

    Assailing it at every moment.

    It strikes it from above time and beneath it,

  10. يَرميهِ مِن فَوقِ الزَمانِ وَتَحتِهِ

    وَيُريهِ كَيفَ يَدينُ لِلحِدثانِ

    And shows it how the young turn to the aged.

    The Crescent tried in vain to rise,

  11. حارَ الهِلالُ فَما يُحاوِلُ نَهضَةً

    إِلّا رَماهُ مُحَلِّقُ الصُلبانِ

    Only for the hovering Crosses to shoot it down.

    The swords pass without pausing by a slaughter,

  12. تَمضي السُيوفُ فَما تُجاوِرُ مَقتَلاً

    إِلّا حَماهُ تَعَصُّبُ الجيرانِ

    Except to be shielded by the zeal of neighbors.

    We acknowledge the facts though it pains us,

  13. نُعطي الوَقائِعَ حَقَّها وَيَسوءُنا

    حَنَقُ الظُبى وَتَعَتُّبُ الفُرسانِ

    Vexing the horsemen and saddening the knights.

    They claimed their civilization would destroy

  14. زَعَموا الحَضارَةَ أَن يُبيدَ طُغاتُهُم

    دينَ الحَياةِ وَمِلَّةِ العُمرانِ

    The religion of life and the nation of civilization.

    What frightens the oppressors while we have

  15. ماذا يَروعُ الظالمينَ وَبَينَنا

    أَمنُ المَروعِ وَنَجدَةُ اللَّهفانِ

    The security of the frightened and aid of the passionate?

    We are the people of the Quran and the religion

  16. إِنّا بَنو القُرآنِ وَالدينِ الَّذي

    صَدَعَ الشُكوكَ وَجاءَ بِالتِبيانِ

    That dispelled doubts and came with clear proof.

    It restored the rights of both worlds,

  17. ضاعَت حُقوقُ العالَمينَ فَرَدَّها

    وَأَقامَها بِالقِسطِ وَالميزانِ

    Establishing them with justice and balance.

    It guided the unjust and humbled the arrogant,

  18. ظَلَمَ العَزيزُ فَهَدَّهُ وَأَهانَهُ

    وَحَمى الذَليلَ فَباتَ غَيرَ مُهانِ

    Protecting the weak who spent the night in tranquility.

    We pardon though the swords do not yearn,

  19. نَعفو وَما اِشتَفَتِ السُيوفُ وَلا هَفا

    بِصُدورِها شَوقٌ إِلى الأَجفانِ

    Nor have their breasts swelled with desire for sheaths.

    Time has treated us harshly, leaving us

  20. عَصَفَ الزَمانُ بِنا فَكُنّا بَينَهُم

    كَالشاةِ بَينَ مَخالِبِ السِرحانِ

    Like sheep among the claws of wolves.

    They tyrannized the weak, terrifying

  21. جاروا عَلى المُستَضعَفينَ وَرَوَّعوا

    مَن باتَ في دَعَةٍ وَطيبِ أَمانِ

    Those who spent the night in meekness and security.

    They granted the disgraced a disgraced life,

  22. مَنّوا عَلَيهِم بِالحَياةِ ذَليلَةً

    مَحيا الذَليلِ وَمَوتُهُ سِيّانِ

    Since the life and death of the disgraced are equal.

    They complain of the clamor of the dead, though to them

  23. يَشكون حَشرَجَةَ القَتيلِ وَعِندَهُم

    أَنَّ الحَياةَ تَكونُ في الأَكفانِ

    Life can only be found in shrouds.

    I have never seen an oppressor as unjust,

  24. وَلَقَد رَأَيتُ فَما رَأَيتُ كَظالِمٍ

    جَمِّ الشَكاةِ وَقاتِلٍ مَنّانِ

    Silencing complaints and killing the outspoken.

    He prevented the Caliphate from being supported,

  25. مَنَعَ الخِلافَةَ أَن تُضامَ وَحاطَها

    حامي الحَجيجِ وَناصِرُ القُرآنِ

    While the guardian of pilgrims and helper of the Quran surrounded it.

    An army marched with the Prophet leading it,

  26. جَيشٌ يَسيرُ بِهِ النَبِيُّ وَحَولَهُ

    جُندُ المَلائِكِ بَينَهُ العُمَرانِ

    The army of angels around it inhabiting it.

    Amr trembles on the banner and Khalid

  27. يَهتَزُّ عَمرٌو في اللِواءِ وَخالِدٌ

    وَيَمورُ حَيدَرَةٌ بِكُلِّ عِنانِ

    Storms with full might.

    They entered battles without flinching,

  28. خاضَ الحُروبَ فَما تَدافَعَ لُجُّها

    إِلّا تَدافَعَ فيهِ يَلتَطِمانِ

    As two seas collide and crash into each other.

    Floating on the blood when it spills

  29. يَطفو عَلى ثَبَجِ الدِماءِ إِذا هَوَت

    في الهالِكينَ رَواسِبُ الشُجعانِ

    Are scum of the brave bubbling on the surface.

    The valiant do not care, when swords clash,

  30. وَيَشُقُّ مُصطَفَقَ العُبابِ إِذا طَغى

    يَرمي عُبابَ الشَرِّ وَالطُغيانِ

    Which delicacy they are served, or which beauty embraces them.

    The bonds of loyalty grow between the loyal,

  31. ما لِلجُنودِ الباسِلينَ وَإِن عَلَوا

    بِجُنودِ رَبِّ العالَمينَ يدانِ

    As they cling to the rope of God, seeking refuge in Him.

    The Caliph’s sword and the many swords

  32. الحافِظينَ عَلى الخِلافَةِ عِزَّها

    الناصِرينَ خَليفَةَ الرَحمَنِ

    While the men strike and stab each other.

    On ships and in battalions, when you advance

  33. غَدَرَ العَدُوُّ فَعَلَّمَتهُ سُيوفُهُم

    صِدقَ العُهودِ وَصِحَّةَ الإيمانِ

    Undaunted and not timid or cowardly.

    A determination drives you that without which

  34. السَيفُ إِنجيلُ الهِدايَةِ إِن دَجا

    لَيلُ الضَلالِ فَطاحَ بِالعُميانِ

    Eras would stand still and mountains tremble.

    When the Caliphate saw you it rejoiced,

  35. يَجلو عَماياتِ النُفوسِ بِأَسرِها

    ما فيهِ مِن عِظَةٍ وَحُسنِ بَيانِ

    And came to you willingly seeking your blessing.

    It shook off its chains and the tribes competed,

  36. دينُ اليَقينِ لِكُلِّ شَعبٍ جاحِدٍ

    سَنَّ العُقوقَ وَدانَ بِالعِصيانِ

    Strutting after effort and travail.

    It followed the advice of the tyrant and was betrayed

  37. قَومٌ إِذا رَفَعوا اللِواءَ فَإِنَّهُ

    وَالنَصرُ بَينَ سُيوفِهِم أَخَوانِ

    For an age where it endured his rule and suffered.

    Oppression upon oppression and bad governance,

  38. ما يَفتِآنِ إِذا الوَغى جَمَعتُهُما

    يَتَناجَيانِ بِها وَيَعتنقانِ

    Corrupt management and procrastination.

    When hearts diverge from their master,

  39. بَينَ الدَمِ الجاري نَديمَي لذَّةٍ

    إن لَذَّتِ الصَهباءُ لِلنُدمانِ

    No strength of bodies can avail him.

    Dynasties collapse or stand but not through

  40. يَنبَتُّ حَبلُ الأَصفِياءِ وَيَنطَوي

    وَهُما بِحَبلِ اللَهِ مُعتَصِمانِ

    Anything but the most secret thoughts.

    Do not be fooled by the outward show of one feigning meekness

  41. سَيفُ الخَليفَةِ وَالسُيوفُ كَثيرَةٌ

    وَالقَومُ بَينَ تَضارُبٍ وَطِعانِ

    Who silenced his complaints and concealed his agony.

    If the throne of a tyrant stands firm,

  42. ما في القَواضِبِ وَالكَتائِبِ إِن مَضى

    وَمَضَيتَ غَيرَ مُفَلَّلٍ وَجَبانِ

    Its foundations rest upon a volcano.

    When a man takes matters into his own hands,

  43. تُمضيكَ مِنهُ عَزيمَةٌ مِن دونِها

    يَقِفُ الزَمانُ وَيَرجُفُ الثَقَلانِ

    They slip away and his feet falter.

    God saved His religion through a Caliph

  44. لَمّا أَطَلَّ عَلى الخِلافَةِ كَبَّرَت

    وَمَشَت إِلَيهِ بِبَيعَةِ الرِضوانِ

    Of pure conscience and true faith.

    He took the fight to the enemy with brave heroes

  45. صَدَعَت بِهِ أَغلالَها وَتَدافَعَت

    تَختالُ بَعدَ الجهدِ وَالرَسَفانِ

    Whose battleground ran with blood.

    The cowards’ empires shook with fear of him

  46. أَخَذَت بِرَأيِ المُستَبِدِّ وَغودِرَت

    زَمَناً تُعالِجُ حُكمَهُ وَتُعاني

    And the foxes and wolves took flight.

    When the echo of his roar circulated,

  47. ظُلمٌ عَلى ظُلمٍ وَسوءُ سِياسَةٍ

    وَفَسادُ تَدبيرٍ وَطولُ تَوانِ

    The mountains of China and Japan trembled.

    In his claws, the citadels tumbled down,

  48. وَإِذا القُلوبُ تَفَرَّقَت عَن مالِكٍ

    لَم يُغنِ عَنهُ تَمَلُّكُ الأَبدانِ

    Two fortresses for Islam, unconquerable.

    The enemy’s wounding of the Caliphate wounded it deeply,

  49. تَهوي الأَسِرَّةُ أَو تَقومُ وَما لَها

    غَيرُ السَرائِرِ هادِمٌ أَو بانِ

    Two bloody gashes upon its heart.

    The Crescent and the State were both drowned in blood,

  50. لا يَخدَعَنَّكَ ظاهِرٌ مِن مُحنِقٍ

    خافَ الشَكاةَ فَلاذَ بِالكِتمانِ

    With religion and worldly matters engulfed together.

    The rule was defended by him and he held fast to it

  51. إِن قامَ عَرشُ المُستَبِدِّ فَإِنَّما

    قامَت قَواعِدُهُ عَلى بُركانِ

    With the strongest pact and guarantee.

    They tested the Caliphate’s sword and trials revealed

  52. وَالمَرءُ إِن أَخَذَ الأُمورَ بِرَأيِهِ

    طاشَت يَداهُ وَزَلَّتِ القَدَمانِ

    The keenest steel and purest metal within.

    The best conquerors aided him,

  53. اللَهُ أَدرَكَ دينَهُ بِخَليفَةٍ

    بَرِّ السَريرَةِ صادِقِ الإيمانِ

    The most loyal of companions and generous of friends.

    They sought the youth of the kingdom and ransomed it

  54. أَخَذ السَبيلَ عَلى العَدُوِّ بِقَسوَرٍ

    دامي المَكَرِّ مُخَضَّبِ المَيدانِ

    With aged devotees and passionate youth.

    Souls soared to gain the blessing of God,

  55. ريعَت له أُمَمُ النِمالِ وَأَجفَلَت

    دُوَلُ الثَعالِبِ مِنهُ وَالذُؤبانِ

    Shedding blood to erect its pillars.

    The blood spilled was the greatest thing they built

  56. لَمّا تَرَدَّدَ في فَروقَ زَئيرُهُ

    رَجَفَت جِبالُ الصينِ وَاليابانِ

    And the noblest thing they established of monuments.

    At the Dardanelles and after it the Peninsula,

  57. في مِخلَبَيهِ إِذا الحُصونُ تَهَدَّمَت

    حِصنانِ لِلإِسلامِ مُمتَنِعانِ

    The horrors of water and awe of fire.

    The shapes of death appeared completely,

  58. جَرَحَ الأُلى صَدَعوا الخِلافَةَ فَاِشتَفى

    جُرحانِ في أَحشائِها دَمِيانِ

    Of varied forms and abundant hues.

    Each surges with them while others stand still,

  59. حَمَلا الهِلالَ عَلى عُبابٍ مِن دَمٍ

    الدينُ وَالدُنيا بِهِ غَرِقانِ

    So war rages yet rests in tranquility.

    Two fires sparked in the battalions,

  60. المُلكُ مُعتَصِمٌ بِهِ مُستَمسِكٌ

    مِنهُ بِأَوثَقِ ذِمَّةٍ وَضَمانِ

    Two conditions amidst the burning embers.

    One overflows from the ships, while the other

  61. سَيفُ الخِلافَةِ جَرَّبوهُ فَكَشَّفَت

    مِنهُ التَجارِبُ عَن أَغَرَّ يَمانِ

    Streams between plains and shepherds.

    The sea opens its depths to the warships

  62. خَيرُ الغُزاةِ الفاتِحينَ أَعانَهُ

    أَوفى الصِحابِ وَأَكرَمُ الأَخدانِ

    As they plunge in pairs and alone.

    The land’s passions are aflame, nursing

  63. طَلَبوا شَبابَ المُلكِ وَاِحتَسَبوا الفِدى

    في اللَهِ مِن شيبٍ وَمِن شُبّانِ

    The bitterness of anger and agony of sorrow.

    They laid traps for the enemy, and between them

  64. وَسَمَت بِأَركانِ الخِلافَةِ أَنفُسٌ

    يَسمو الأَمينُ بِها إِلى رِضوانِ

    Quaked the lover’s passion and the young man’s fervor.

    Until cunning took hold of the cunning one,

  65. كانَ الدَمَ المَسفوحَ أَكبَرُ ما بَنوا

    وأَجَلُّ ما دَعَموا مِنَ الجُدرانِ

    Affliction befell him wherever he turned.

    Their souls thirsted for the black drink of death,

  66. في الدَردَنيلِ وَفي الجَزيرَةِ بَعدَهُ

    رُعبُ المِياهِ وَرَوعَةُ النيرانِ

    And death lapped the thirst of the thirsty.

    They drank the red drafts of death, its surge

  67. بَرَزَت تَماثيلُ المَنِيَّةِ كُلُّها

    شَتّى الضُروبِ كَثيرَةَ الأَلوانِ

    Foaming amidst the green meadows and riverbanks.

    Torrents casting it as shadows whose darkness

  68. كُلٌّ يَموجُ بِها وَكُلٌّ ساكِنٌ

    فَالحَربُ في قَلَقٍ وَفي اِطمِئنانِ

    Pours out like the flooding of the deluge.

    They ravaged the dreams of invaders, and events

  69. نارانِ بَرَّحَ بِالكَتائِبِ مِنهُما

    حالانِ في الهَيجاءِ مُختَلِفانِ

    There stagnated their dreams like statues.

    Do the lions in their lairs toss mice

  70. هَذي تَفيضُ مِنَ البُروجِ وَهَذِهِ

    تَنسابُ بَينَ أَباطِحٍ وَرِعانِ

    And the eagle nation throw lizards?

    The feeble-minded thought war was frivolous,

  71. البحرُ يَفتَحُ لِلبَوارِجِ جَوفَهُ

    فَتَغورُ مِن مَثنىً وَمِن وُحدانِ

    Not realizing the price of Turks and Germans.

    Two swords never raced to destroy a kingdom

  72. وَالبَرُّ مُلتَهِبُ الجَوانِحِ مُضمِرٌ

    حَنَقَ المَغيظِ وَلَوعَةَ الحَرّانِ

    Except the two inevitable moments raced them.

    God’s destiny unfolds between their two edges,

  73. مَدَّ الشِراكَ إِلى العَدُوِّ وَبَينَها

    طَرَبُ المَشوقِ وَهِزَّةُ الجَذلانِ

    And between their two breasts roam the Angels of Death.

    Where are the deaths that swim bearing

  74. حَتّى إذا أَخَذَ الدَهاءُ بِلُبِّهِ

    أَخَذَ البَلاءُ عَلَيهِ كُلَّ مَكانِ

    The awe of the seas and wrath of the waves?

    Ships sank by the whale when it lunged,

  75. ظَمِئَت إِلى وِردِ الأُسودِ نُفوسُهُم

    وَالمَوتُ يَنقَعُ غُلَّةَ الظَمآنِ

    Gliding between whale and crab.

    The work of the Most High surpassed minds,

  76. شَرِبوا المَنايا الحُمرَ يَسطَعُ مَوجُها

    بَينَ المُروجِ الخُضرِ وَالغُدرانِ

    Transcending the realm of powers and possibilities.

    They uncovered knowledge from its wraps and attained

  77. تَرمي بِها لُجَجٌ يَظَلُّ شُواظُها

    مُتَدَفِّقاً كَتَدَفُّقِ الطوفانِ

    The secret of superiority within it and advantage.

    They commanded the elements so the obstinate obeyed,

  78. عَصَفَت بِأَحلامِ الغُزاةِ وَقائِعٌ

    رَكَدَت بِأَحلامٍ هُناكَ رِزانِ

    The difficult became easy and the far came near.

    Death swam at their command in the clouds

  79. أَإِلى الأُسودِ الغُلبِ في أَجماتِها

    تَرمي شِعابُ البيدِ بِالجِرذانِ

    And death frolicked in the cradle of life.

    So people became prey and the worlds a courtyard

  80. غالوا بِمُلكِ الفاتِحينَ وَأَيقَنوا

    أَنَّ النُفوسَ رَخيصَةُ الأَثمانِ

    For Azrael to freely wander.

    They roused the remarkable deaths and were roused by

  81. تِلكَ المَصارِعُ ما تَكادُ مَنِيَّةٌ

    تَجتازُ جانِبَها بِلا اِستِئذانِ

    The greed of injustice and viciousness of pirates.

    Generations were ruined though they were still

  82. ما الجَيشُ مِن نَصرِ الإِلَهِ وَفَتحِهِ

    كَالجَيشِ من فَشَلٍ وَمِن خِذلانِ

    Infants who never knew their wet nurses.

    They were alarmed by the sorrows of ages

  83. وَيحَ الأُلى زَعَموا الحُروبَ دُعابَةً

    ما غَرَّهُم بِالتُركِ وَالأَلمانِ

    And maddened by the length of garments and severity of adversities.

    They were granted major miracles and were distinguished

  84. سَيفانِ ما اِستَبَقا مَقاتِلَ دَولَةٍ

    إِلّا مَضى الأَجَلانِ يَستَبِقانِ

    By the wonders of perfection and excellence of composition.

    Its treasuries opened to them with a dye

  85. يَجري قَضاءُ اللَهِ في حَدَّيهِما

    وَيَجولُ في صَدرَيهِما المَلكانِ

    That leaves nations rapidly shifting.

    They manipulated realms and peoples with a policy

  86. أَينَ المَنايا السابِحات حَوامِلاً

    فَزَعَ البِحارِ وَرَعدَةَ الخُلجانِ

    That elevated the inanimate over the animate.

    They subjected us to both injustices, leaving us

  87. غَرَّت جِرايَ فَجاءَها مِن تَحتِها

    ما لَم يَكُن لِجِرايَ في الحُسبانِ

    To taste neither the sweetness of life nor the joy of knowledge.

    Poverty raises its banners among us

  88. قَدَرٌ جَرى في الماءِ تَحتَ سُكونِهِ

    وَجَرى الرَدى فَاِستَرسَلَ القَدَرانِ

    While ignorance strikes above us with clay.

    They gnawed at our money with claws

  89. سِرُّ المَنِيَّةِ جائِلٌ في جَوفِهِ

    كَالروحِ حينَ تَجولُ في الجُثمانِ

    That consumed Egypt and Sudan’s treasures.

    Tax collectors prey on the servants, sparing nothing,

  90. سُفُنٌ هَوَت بِالحوتِ حينَ تَبادَرَت

    تَنسابُ بَينَ الحوتِ وَالسَرَطانِ

    Not even the most delicate maid or precious slave.

    Sustenance is stripped away, along with clothing,

  91. صُنعُ الأُلى فاتوا العُقولَ وَجاوَزوا

    مَرمى القُوى وَمَواقِعَ الإِمكانِ

    And whatever the poor man’s house contained of fleeting possessions.

    The money is hoarded in their treasuries while

  92. كَشَفوا عَنِ العِلمِ الغِطاءَ وَأَدرَكوا

    سِرَّ التَفَوُّقِ فيهِ وَالرَجَحانِ

    Hunger kills us without mercy.

    You see the leader of the people extending his palm,

  93. مَلَكوا العَناصِرَ فَالعَصِيُّ مُطاوِعٌ

    وَالصَعبُ سَهلٌ وَالبَعيدُ مُدانِ

    Begging aid from the charitable.

    He who depleted the treasuries sleeps content,

  94. المَوتُ يَسبَحُ في الغِمارِ بِأَمرِهِم

    وَالمَوتُ يَمرَحُ في حِمى كيوانِ

    While the father of children rests with eyes sealed shut.

    The palace floats in bounty while the houses

  95. فَالناسُ نَهبٌ وَالعَوالِمُ ساحَةٌ

    عِزريلُ فيها دائِمُ الجَوَلانِ

    Witness the death of inhabitants.

    Each day, a new tax and special levy

  96. هاجوا المَنايا الرائِعاتِ وَهاجَهُم

    جَشَعُ العِدى وَتَأَلُّبُ القُرصانِ

    That terrifies the far and near.

    They prohibited our complaining, silencing

  97. شابَت لَها الأَجيالُ وَهيَ أَجِنَّةٌ

    لَم تَدرِ بَعدُ مَراضِعَ الوِلدانِ

    Each mouth and tongue among us.

    They shrugged off meekness, but could they shrug off

  98. فَزِعَت بِأَحشاءِ الدُهورِ وَغالَها

    طولُ الوُثوبِ وَشِدَّةُ النَزَوانِ

    The agonies from their own hearts?

    They grew angry at the free in our homelands,

  99. أُوتوا كِبارَ المُعجِزاتِ وَمُيِّزوا

    بِرَوائِعِ الإِحكامِ وَالإِتقانِ

    Content with every fawning traitor.

    The worst sins and decadence to them

  100. جذبوا بِسِرِّ الكيمياءِ عَدُوَّهُم

    فَأَطاعَ بَعدَ شَراسَةٍ وَحِرانِ

    Are the fragrance of musk and softness of cashmere.

    Infidelity altogether loves one’s nation,

  101. مَدَّ العُيونَ إِلى اللِواءِ فَرَدَّهُ

    أَعمى وَأَطفَأَ نارَهُ بِدُخانِ

    While the free of conscience are faithful of soul.

    Death has never obsessed the vile as it has

  102. ضَلَّ المُلوكُ فَجَدَّدوا لِشُعوبِهِم

    إِلّا بِأَلفاظٍ لَها وَمَعانِ

  107. هَدَّ الكَنائِسَ ما وَعَت جُدرانُها

    مِن موبِقاتِ البَغيِ وَالعُدوانِ

    Leaving nations rapidly changing.

  108. اَفَيُؤمِنونَ بِقَولِ بُطرُسَ أَم لَهُم

    فيهِ كِتابٌ لِاِبنِ مَريَمَ ثانِ

    The inanimate over the living.

  109. لَيتَ القُبورَ إِلى العَراءِ نَبَذنَهُ

    لِيَرى مَصيرَ المُلكِ رَأيَ عَيانِ

    To taste neither the sweetness of life nor the joy of knowledge.

  110. مُلكٌ تَأَلَّفَ في عُصورٍ جَمَّةٍ

    وَاِنحَلَّ بَينَ دَقائِقٍ وَثَوانِ

    While ignorance strikes above us with bricks.

  111. يا آلَ رومانوفَ أَصبَحَ مُلكُكُم

    عِظَةَ الشُعوبِ وَعِبرَةَ الأَزمانِ

    That exhausted Egypt and Sudan’s treasures.

    Tax collectors assault the servants, sparing

  112. ضَجَّ النُعاةُ فَما بَكى حُلَفاؤُكُم

    أَينَ الدُموعُ وَكَيفَ يَبكي الجاني

    Neither the delicate nor nurtured.

    Daily sustenance is stripped away, along with clothing,

  113. تَبكي الطُلولُ لَكُم وَيَقضي حَقَّكُم

    عاوي الذِئابِ وَناعِقُ الغِربانِ

    And whatever the poor man’s house contained of fleeting possessions.

    The money is hoarded in treasuries while

  114. اللَهُ هَدَّ كِيانَكُم بِكَتائِبٍ

    يَرمي بِها فَيَهُدَّ كُلَّ كِيانِ

    Hunger kills us without mercy.

    You see the leader of the people extend his palm,

  115. لا تَجزَعوا لِلمُلكِ بَعدَ ذَهابِهِ

    المُلكُ لِلَهِ العَلِيِّ الشانِ

    Seeking charity from the benevolent.

    He who depleted the treasuries sleeps content,

  116. سيناءُ تيهي بِالغُزاةِ وَفاخِري

    وَاروي الحَديثَ لِسائِرِ الرُكبانِ

    While the father of children rests with eyes shut tight.

    The palace floats in bounty while the homes

  117. ماذا بَدا لَكِ مِن أَعاجيبِ الوَغى

    وَشَهِدتِ مِن أَسَدٍ وَمِن قِطعانِ

    Witness the death of inhabitants.

    Each day, a new tax and special levy

  118. ماذا رَأَيتِ مِنَ البَواسِلِ إِذ دَعا

    داعي العَوانِ فَطارَ كُلُّ جَنانِ

    That terrifies the near and far.

    They prohibited our complaints, gagging

  119. أَرَأَيتِ أَبطالَ الرِجالِ مُشيحَةً

    تَلهو بِبيضِ كَواعِبٍ وَغَوانِ

    Every mouth and tongue among us.

  120. أَعلِمتِ مَن يَلقى الحُتوفَ إِذا الْتَقى

    ضاري اللُيوثِ وَناعِمُ الغِزلانِ

    The agonies from their own hearts?

  121. مَلَكوا الشِعابَ عَلى العَدُوِّ وَزاحَموا

    شَعبَ النُسورِ وَأُمَّةَ العِقبانِ

    حُسنُ البَلاءِ بِحُسنِكِ الفَتّانِ

  184. يا ذا الجَلالَةِ لا سَعِدتَ بِتاجِهِ

    مُلكاً سِواكَ بِهِ السَعيدُ الهاني

  185. أَمَلَكتَ ما بَينَ البَقيعِ فَجُدَّةٍ

    وَأَبَحتَ جَيشَكَ ما وَراءَ مَعانِ

  186. وَبَصَرتَ بِالوُزراءِ حَولَكَ خُشَّعاً

    تُمضي أُمورَ المُلكِ في الإيوانِ

  187. يُجبى إِلَيكَ مِنَ البِلادِ خَراجُها

    ما بَينَ ذي سَلَمٍ إِلى عُسفانِ

  188. مُلكٌ أَمَدَّكَ مِن خَزائِنِهِ بِما

    أَعيا الجُباةَ وَناءَ بِالخُزّانِ

  189. الجُندُ مَعقودُ اللِواءِ لِفَيصَلٍ

    بَينَ الظُبى وَعَوامِلِ المُرّانِ

  190. يَلقى النَبِيَّ مُدَجَّجاً في جُندِهِ

    وَبَنو أَبيهِ عَلى اللِواءِ حَوانِ

  191. أَيَقودُ جَيشَكَ أَم يَقودُ عُيَينَةٌ

    شُمَّ الفَوارِسِ مِن بَني غَطفانِ

  192. سَلَبوا اللِقاحَ وَإِنَّ دينَ مُحَمَّدٍ

    لَأَعَزُّ مِن إِبلٍ عَلَيهِ وَضانِ

  193. أَهدى إِلَيكَ مِنَ المَفاخِرِ مِثلَ ما

    أَهدى يَزيدُ إِلى بَني شَيبانِ

  194. فَتَحَ الحِجازَ رِمالَهُ وَصُخورَهُ

    وَأَتى إِلَيكَ بِرَندِهِ وَالبانِ

  195. اعذُر شُعوبَ المُسلِمينَ إِذا هَفَت

    إِنّي أَرى الحَرَمَينِ يَنتَفِضانِ

  196. وَلَئِن جَرَت حَولَ النَبِيِّ عُيونُها

    فَلَقَد رَأَت عَينَيهِ تَنهَمِلانِ

  197. تَمحو السُيوفُ وَلِلحَقائِقِ حُكمُها

    مُلكَ الخَيالِ وَدَولَةَ الصِبيانِ

  198. ما المُلكُ مِن عِزٍّ وَبَأسٍ صادِقٍ

    كَالمُلكِ مِن كَذِبٍ وَمِن بُهتانِ

  199. صونوا بَني الأَعرابِ مِن عَوراتِها

    دَعوى لَعَمرِ اللَهِ غَيرَ حَصانِ

  200. غَشّى عَلى أَبصارِكُم وَقُلوبِكُم

    كَاللَيلِ مِن حُجُبٍ وَمِن أَكنانِ

  201. أَنَسيتُمُ الآياتِ بالِغَةً فَما

    بِصَحائِفِ التاريخِ مِن نِسيانِ

  202. التُركُ جُندُ اللَهِ لَولا بَأسُهُم

    لَم يَبقَ في الدُنيا مُقيمُ أَذانِ

  203. خُلَفاؤُهُ الأَبرارُ نَزَّهَ حُبَّهُم

    فيهِ وَطَهَّرَهُم مِنَ الأَدرانِ

  204. لَم يَخذُلوهُ وَلا أَضاعوا حَقَّهُ

    في شِدَّةٍ مِن أَمرِهِم وَلَيانِ

  205. صانوا بِحَدِّ السَيفِ حَوزَةَ مُلكِهِم

    وَحِفاظَ كُلِّ مُشَيَّعٍ صَلَتانِ

  206. يَأتَمُّ فيهِ خَليفَةٌ بِخَليفَةٍ

    وَيَزيدُ خاقانٌ عَلى خاقانِ

  207. بِالمَغرِبَينِ مَمالِكٌ أَودى بِها

    عَبَثُ الخَلائِفِ مِن بَني قَحطانِ

  208. أَودى بِها عَبدُ العَزيزِ وَقَومُهُ

    قَومُ الخَليعِ وَشيعَةُ السَكرانِ

  209. تَشقى رَعِيَّتُهُ وَيَظمَأُ مُلكُهُ

    فَيَلوذُ مِنهُ بِناعِمٍ رَيّانِ

  210. ذَعَرَ الجَآذِرَ وَالظِباءَ فَما وَفَت

    أَفياءُ مِصرَ وَلا رُبى لُبنانِ

  211. مَلِكٌ أَحاطَ بِتاجِهِ وَسَريرِهِ

    جَيشُ القِيانِ وَعَسكَرُ الغِلمانِ

  212. تَحمي حِماهُ بِصافِناتِ كُؤوسِها

    وَتَصونُهُ بِصَوارِمِ الأَلحانِ

  213. عَصَفَت بِأَندَلُسٍ رِياحُ جَهالَةٍ

    مادَت لَها الدُنيا مِنَ الرَجفانِ

  214. صَدَعَت قُوى الإِسلامِ بَينَ مُلوكِها

    وَرَمَت بَنيهِ بِأَبرَحِ الأَشجانِ

  216. يَتَنازَعونَ رِداءَ مُلكٍ مونِقٍ

    خَضِلِ الحَواشي مُذهَبِ الأَردانِ

  217. لَبِسَ العَدُوُّ ظِلالَهُ وَتَكَشَّفوا

    لِبَني الزَمانِ تَكَشُّفَ العُريانِ

  218. صَدَّ النَبِيُّ مِنَ الحَياءِ بِوَجهِهِ

    وَلَوَت أُمَيَّةُ صَفحَةَ الخِزيانِ

  219. وَأَهَلَّ موسى في القُبورِ وَطارِقٌ

    يَتَفَجَّعانِ مَعاً وَيَنتَحِبانِ

  220. خَطبٌ تَباعَدَ حينُهُ وَإِخالُهُ

    أَدنى الخُطوبِ وَأَقرَبَ الأَحيانِ

  221. أَبكي وَرُزءُ المُسلِمينَ وَما لَقوا

    في العالَمينَ أَشَدُّ ما أَبكاني

  222. أَبكي لِدامِيَةِ الجَوانِحِ هاجَها

    ما هاجَني مِن دائِها وَشَجاني

  223. الدَهرُ أَندَلُسٌ وَكُلٌّ ذِكرُها

    وَعُهودُ سُكّانٍ لَها وَمَغاني

  224. وَالكائِناتُ قَصيدَةٌ تَروي لَنا

    عَنها فُنونَ الوَجدِ وَالتَوَقانِ

  225. اللَيلُ فيها وَالنَهارُ كَلاهما

    بَيتانِ طولَ الدَهرِ يَبتَدِرانِ

  226. فَهُما رَسولاها إِلى أَهلِ الهَوى

    وَهُما الهَوى وَالشَوقُ يَتَّصِلانِ

  227. مُلكٌ هَوى بَينَ الكُؤوسِ جَنازَةً

    وَمَضى عَلى نَعشٍ مِنَ الرَيحانِ
