1. نَهَضَ الغُزاةُ فأين تَمْضِي العِيرُ

    أعَلَى الغمامِ إلى الشآمِ تَسيرُ

    The warriors marched, where does the caravan head?

    Above the clouds, towards Syria it proceeds.

  2. زَيْدُ بْنُ حارثةٍ يَطيرُ وَرَاءَها

    مَا ظَنَّهَا بالنَّسرِ حِينَ يَطيرُ

    Zayd ibn Harithah flies after it

    It did not expect him to be a falcon when he flies.

  3. مَهْلاً أبا سُفيانَ إنَّ طِلابَكُمْ

    عَسِرٌ وإنَّ مُصَابَكم لَكَبيرُ

    Wait Abu Sufyan, your pursuits

    Are difficult, and your afflictions are severe.

  4. صَفْوَانُ يُرْعِدُ خِيفةً وحُوَيْطِبٌ

    مِمَّا عَرَاهُ مُرَوَّعٌ مَذعُورُ

    Safwan thunders in fear, and Al-Huwaiṭib

    Is terrified and panicked because of what he saw.

  5. زُولُوا بأنفسِكم فَتِلْكَ حُتوفُها

    غَضْبَى إليها بالسُّيوفِ تُشِيرُ

    Go away with yourselves, for those are their blankets

    Angrily at them with swords it gestures.

  6. هِيَ غارةُ البَطَلِ المُظَفَّرِ مالكم

    مِنه إذا خَاضَ الغِمَارَ مُجيرُ

    It is the raid of the victorious hero, what do you have

    To protect you when he plunges into the battlefield?

  7. ظَنُّوا الظنُّونَ بهِ فلمَّا اسْتَيْقَنُوا

    زَالوا عَنِ الأموالِ وَهْيَ كَثيرُ

    They harbored doubts about him, but when they were certain

    They desisted from the fortunes, and those were many.

  8. أَمْسَتْ تُساقُ إلى النبيِّ غَنيمةً

    للَّهِ فيها فَضلُهُ المشكُورُ

    The spoils were brought in the evening to the Prophet

    For which Allah's abundant favor is thanked.

  9. هذا دليلُ العِيرِ غُودِرَ وَحْدَهُ

    خَلْفَ الأُلَى خَذلُوهُ فَهْوَ أَسِيرُ

    This is evidence of the caravan's leader who was alone

    Abandoned by the tribes, so he is a captive.

  10. اللَّهُ أطلقَهُ على يدِ مُنْقِذٍ

    هُوَ للأُسارَى المرهَقِينَ بَشِيرُ

    Allah released him by the hand of a savior

    He is to the exhausted captives a bearer of good news.

  11. عَقَدَتْ مِنَ الإسلامِ فوقَ جَبينِهِ

    تاجاً عليهِ من الجلالةِ نُورُ

    Islam crowned above his forehead

    A crown on it of majesty and light.

  12. مَن علَّمَ القومَ العُكوفَ على الهوى

    أنَّ الحياةَ جَهالةٌ وغُرور

    Who taught people to indulge in passion

    That life is ignorance and vain?

  13. تِلك المغانِمُ ما لها كَمُحَمَّدٍ

    في النَّاسِ من أحدٍ إليهِ تَصِيرُ

    Those spoils, Muhammad has no equal among people

    To whom they would belong.

  14. هِيَ قُوَّةٌ لِلمُسْلِمينَ وَمَظهرٌ

    للقائِمينَ على الجهادِ خَطيرُ

    It is strength for the Muslims and a sign

    For those who stand firm in holy war.

  15. بُورِكْتَ يا زَيْدُ بنُ حارثةٍ فما

    لكَ في الموالِي الصَّالِحينَ نَظيرُ

    You were blessed, O Zayd ibn Harithah, for you have

    No peer among the righteous slaves.

  16. إيهٍ أميرَ الجندِ ليس كمثلهِ

    جُندٌ ولا مِثلَ الأميرِ أميرُ

    O commander of the army, none can equal him,

    An army is not like its commander, nor a commander like another.
