1. يومَ الشّهيدِ رَجعتَ أيمنَ مرجعِ

    وَطلعتَ في الأيّام أسعدَ مَطلعِ

    On the martyr's day you returned, O commander, to the noblest abode,

    And rose in the days, the happiest rising.

  2. غَيَّضتَ عَبْرَةَ كُلِّ عَينٍ ثَرَّةٍ

    وشَفَيْتَ لَوعةَ كلِّ قَلبٍ مُوجَعِ

    You dried the flowing tears of every weeping eye,

    And healed the agony of every aching heart.

  3. وَدَّعْتنا جَمَّ الجِراحِ مُروَّعاً

    وَلَقِيتَنا جذلانَ غيرَ مُروَّعِ

    You bid us farewell, wounded all over,

    And met us dignified, no more terrified.

  4. في موكبٍ عالي الجلالِ مُحبَّبٍ

    تَهفو إليه جَوانحُ المُتطلِّعِ

    In a lofty, endearing procession,

    To which the aspirations of the ambitious soar.

  5. تزهو بتاجٍ دُونَهُ شمسُ الضُّحَى

    مُتألِّقٍ بِدمِ الشَّهيدِ مُرصَّعِ

    Adorned with a crown, lit by the morning sun,

    Studded with the martyr's blood, resplendent.

  6. رَيّانَ مِن حقٍّ ومن حُرّيةٍ

    والحقُّ للوُرَّادِ أطيبُ مَشرعِ

    Imbued with truth and freedom,

    And for the loyal, truth is the sweetest hope.

  7. حيَّتْكَ مِصرُ مشوقةً وتلفَّتتْ

    لِتَرى جَلالَ شَهيدِها في المصرعِ

    Egypt hailed you yearningly and turned

    To see the majesty of her martyr in the deathbed.

  8. نَادَتْهُ فَرحَى أينَ أنتَ فَراعَها

    صَوتٌ يُجِيبُ مِن المقامِ الأرفعِ

    She called him, where are you? She was startled

    By a voice answering from the Highest Station.

  9. هُو ها هنا في صَحْبِه وَرِفاقهِ

    بأجلِّ مَنزلةٍ وأَشْرفِ مَوضعِ

    In the most honorable position and noblest place.

    Which no ambition can ever attain.

  10. هُوَ ها هنا في نِعمةٍ أبديّةٍ

    للهِ ما في مثلِها مِن مَطمعِ

    And with God, no truth is ever wasted.

    The youth of the Nile, your efforts

  11. هو ها هنا يا مصر يُعطَى حَقَّهُ

    والحقُّ عِند اللهِ غيرُ مُضيَّعِ

    Were weakened by his loss, but did not split.

    You united for the cause a collective front,

  12. هُوَ ها هُنَا يحمي لواءكِ فَانْظُرِي

    هُوَ هُا هُنا يَشدو بِذكركِ فَاسْمَعي

    Had you not joined forces, it would not have united.

    You reconciled the leaders after disunity,

  13. مَرْحَى شبابَ النِّيلِ تلك جُهودُكم

    ضَنّتْ بِوَحدتِه فلم تتصدَّعِ

    And united passions after reluctance.

    There were chaotic forces, some partisan

  14. أنتم جَمعتمْ لِلقضيَّةِ جَبهةً

    لولا انتظامُ صُفوفِكُمْ لم تُجْمَعِ

    Each going his own way, some sectarian

    A war that harmed the community, and an ordeal

  15. ألَّفتُمُ الزُّعماءَ بعد تَفرُّقٍ

    ومَلكتمُ الأهواءَ بَعدَ تَمنُّعِ

    That afflicted the country with every tribulation.

    You achieved Egypt's independence, which

  16. كانت قُوىً فَوْضى فَمِنْ مُتحزِّبٍ

    يَمضِي لِغايتهِ وَمِن مُتشيِّعِ

    Extends a hand bidding farewell to terror.

    We have enacted for secularism its law,

  17. حَرْبٌ أضرّتْ بالسَّوادِ وَفِتنةٌ

    رَمَتِ البلادَ بِكلِّ خَطبٍ مُفزعِ

    Abolishing the law that was never legislated.

    The law of philosophers who imagined

  18. أدركتمُ اسْتقلالَ مِصرَ وإنّه

    لَيَمُدُّ مِن فَزَعٍ يَمينَ مُودِّعِ

    That we are objects, unable to feel or perceive.

    Today we rise with a clear proof

  19. إنّا شَرَعنا لِلكنانةِ دِينَها

    فَقَضَى على الدِّينِ الذي لم يُشرعِ

    That refutes the claims of the claimant.

  20. دينِ الفَلاسفةِ الذين توهَّموا

    أنّا جَمادٌ لا نُحِسُّ ولا نعي

  21. اليومَ نَنهضُ ظَاهرين بِحُجّةٍ

    بَيْضاءَ تَدفعُ تُرَّهاتِ المُدَّعي
