Help Egypt and seek the wellbeing of her children

For living has become straitened in her

Does she meet her doom with no protector to guard

Her fighters, no helper to keep her safe

Help her, for no country suffers when blessed

Sons of the Saxons, you are her greatest reformers

Are you not the most judicious people when judging

Yet most lacking when you pride yourselves?

Help a nation complaining to you

Of the harm of discord and a wretched life

We seek refuge in your justice against your delivering us

To the torment of cruel discord that scorches us

Shepherds of oblivion suffice what comes to her

    So alas O Saxons, alas

A trembling soul lingered in the darkness

Clinging to tears it lets flow

I shook off apathy about one in agony

Concealing his anguish while shunning it

And I rose dragging limbs heavy

    Suffering death from their afflictions

I perked up my hearing then sent my eyes

Behind the door, discerning the faces

    I saw horror sprouting suddenly

    Rending hearts open spontaneously

I saw misery racing in skins

Prosperity shunning them and sheltering from them

    I saw ravenous wolves writhing

    Their maws full in them

Seeking food while the home crumbles

    Almost toppling on her children

    Loyal ones, relieve her crises

    For inability cannot relieve them

Where are the reformers? Is there no devoted one

    To ransom Egypt from catastrophes?

    Loyal ones, relieve her crises

What befell her from years suffices her

We shepherded droughts in Egypt's barrens

And left the meadows to her grazers

Her resources are exhausted by us

But not exhausted by those who exploit her

    Rouse us migrants in her

Do we not hope for life and seek it?

Is half not forbidden if you prevent us

From sharing it, even if you own it?

Quench your vengeance to destroy souls

We seek refuge in your righteousness against your vanquishing them

Protectors of the Nile, how many by the Nile are craving

    Sustenance it cannot contain?

    And the breath-bereft, if death

Were water, would hasten to drink it

    The bare-flanked winces from humiliation

Though his garb was pride and conceit

Protectors of the Nile, how many a soul suffers

Its demise, calling for its rescuer?

Grant us reparations and be not

Like those who ruin souls yet aid them not

You alleged we are an ignorant people

You spoke true, educate the ignorant people

On Judgement Day, when the nations feel

Their teachers, what is our appointment?

You wronged us in your governance of us

That is a governance we will not accept
