لواءَ الله بُورِكَ مِن لواءِ
وهل بِجنودِ ربّكِ من خَفاءِ
The banner of God, blessed banner
Is there any hiding for the soldiers of your Lord?
تُظلِّلُها الملائكُ حين تمشِي
وتقدمها صُفوفُ الأنبياءِ
The angels shade it as it walks
And the rows of prophets precede it
إذا ما النّصرُ أظلمَ جانباهُ
تَبلّجَ في كتائِبها الوِضاءِ
When victory darkens its sides
Serenity shines in its regiments
كتائبُ تركبُ الأقدارَ خَيْلاً
وتَتّخِذُ المعاقِلَ في السّماءِ
Regiments that ride fate like horses
And take fortresses in the sky
تَسُلُّ سُيوفَها فَتَكِلُّ عنها
مَضاربُ كُلِّ أَشطبَ ذِي مَضاءِ
They unsheathe their swords, sparing none
From the tents of any stubborn foe
جِهادٌ تقذف الآياتُ فيهِ
بِكلِّ مُدمِّرٍ عَجِلِ الفَناءِ
A jihad in which verses hurl
Every swift destroyer to oblivion
تَطايَر بالكتائبِ والسّرايا
فَغادَرها كمنتشرِ الهباءِ
The regiments and elite force took flight
Leaving it like dispersing dust
يَشقُّ جَوانِحَ الشُّمِّ الجواري
ويعصفُ بالسَّوابحِ في الجِواءِ
It rips through the sides of evil winds
And storms the swimming clouds in the air
حُماةَ الحقِّ صُدُّوا كلَّ عادٍ
ورُدُّوا المُبطلين عنِ الهُراءِ
The guardians of truth, stop every transgressor
And return the corrupters from deviance
وَصُونوا الشَّعبَ عن أهواءِ قَومٍ
أضَاعوهُ بِمُنقَطعِ الرّجاءِ
They protected the people from the whims
Of a people who lost them in despair
يَصيحُ به الحُماةُ وقد تردَّى
بِمَذْأَبةٍ تَجاوبُ بالعواءِ
The guardians call to it as it falls
With a roar that echoes in howls
أقام بها يُصانِعُ كلَّ طاوٍ
شديدِ الختلِ مُستعرِ الضَّراءِ
He deals with every obstinate tyrant
Severe in evil, raging in harm
تراه على الكِلاءَةِ والتَّوقِّي
مُلِحَّ النّابِ يكرعُ في الدّماءِ
You see him insisting and being cautious
Keen fanged, guzzling blood
أَغارَ وما تَغَيَّبتِ الدّرارِي
وعاثَ وما غفا ليلُ الرِّعاءِ
He raided while the warriors slept
And wreaked havoc while the shepherds dozed
لَعمرُ النّاكِثين لقد وَفَيْنا
على ما كان من مَضَضِ الوفاءِ
By the oath of oath-breakers, we have fulfilled
What was of loyalty’s discontent
نصونُ لِمصرَ حُرمَتها ونَحمِي
حقيقَتها ونَصدقُ في الفِداءِ
We protect Egypt's sanctity and defend
Its truth and are honest in sacrifice
سَجِيَّتُنا وسنّةُ مَن ورِثنا
من السَّلفِ المُقدّمِ في السَّناءِ
Our nature and way of those we inherited
From the eminent ancestors of glory
أئِمَّةُ نَجدةٍ ودُعاةُ حقِّ
أقاموا المجدَ مُمتَنِعَ البناءِ
The imams of glory and the callers of truth
Who established everlasting glory
عليهم من جلال الذّكر سُورٌ
تروعك منه سِيما الكبرياءِ
Upon them from the majesty of mention are walls
That awe you, especially the grandeur
يَهابُ الدّهرُ جانِبَهُ فَينْأَى
ويُغضي النَّجمُ عنه من الحَياءِ
Time fears their side, so it turns away
And the stars hide their faces in shyness
جَثتْ هِمَمُ الخلودِ على ذُراهُ
وأقعت حوله ذِمَمُ البَقاءِ
The ambitions of eternity collapsed at their burial grounds
And the lifespans fell around them
لعمرك ما حياةُ المرءِ إلا
جَلالُ الذّكرِ في شرفِ الجَزاءِ
By your life, the life of a person is only
The majesty of mention in the nobility of reward
إذا لم تَبْنِ قومَكَ حين تبني
فأنت وما تَشيدُ إلى العَفاءِ
If you do not build your people as you build
You and what you erect are to ruin
حُماةَ النّيلِ كيف بنا إذا ما
أضاعَ النّيلَ وَفدُ الأدعياءِ
Protectors of the Nile, how can we, if
The allies of pretenders waste the Nile?
هُمُ ائْتَمروا بهِ فَتداركوهُ
وَرُدُّوا عنه عاديَة القَضاءِ
They conspired against it, so forestall them
And ward off the blow of fate from it
أَيذهبُ بين مَأدُبةٍ وأُخرى
فَبِئْسَ الضّيفُ ضيفُ ذَوي السَّخَاءِ
Will it go from one banquet to another?
What an evil guest is the guest of generosity!
نُباعُ وما أتَى الأقوامَ شرعٌ
بِبَيْعِ في الشُّعوبِ ولا شِراءِ
Merchandise, and no law brought the people
To sell or buy the nations
فَهلا إذْ أبَى النخّاسُ أَمستْ
تُسامُ نُفوسُنا سَوْمَ الغلاءِ
Why then, when the slaver refused, have
Our souls been valued at high prices?
ألا لا يطمعِ الأقوامُ فينا
فلسنا بالعبيدِ ولا الإماءِ
Do not let the people covet us
We are neither slaves nor bondwomen
وكيف يُرَدُّ للجهَلاءِ حُكمٌ
إذا جَهِلَ الشُّعوبَ أولو الدّهاءِ
How can the ignorant be given power
When the knowledgeable ignored the people?
لِئنْ نكَبوا الكِنانةَ حِينَ جاءوا
لقد نُكِبوا بِشعبٍ ذِي إباءِ
If they rejected the covenant when they came
They were rejected by a steadfast people
بني التّاميزِ لا تَثِقُوا بوفدٍ
يُبايُعكم على صِدقِ الولاءِ
Children of Thamud, do not trust a delegation
That pledges loyalty to you
أرى الزُّعماءَ قد لبسوا جميعاً
لكم ولقومهم ثَوْبَ الرِّياءِ
I see the leaders have all worn
For you and their people a robe of hypocrisy
دَعُوا رُسلَ الوِفاقِ وما أرادوا
فإنّا لا نُريد سوى الجلاءِ
Leave the messengers of concord, for they never wanted
Anything but eviction
لَئِنْ أَودَى الغليلُ بنا فهذا
أوانُ الرِيِّ للمُهَجِ الظِّماءِ
If bitterness destroys us, then this is the time
To quench the thirst of the parched refugees
