أعِدِ البناءَ وجدّدِ الميثاقا
وخُذِ السّبيلَ مُبادِراً سبّاقا
Rebuild and renew the covenant
And take the path, leading and racing ahead
جَدَّ النّضالُ ومن ورائك فتيةٌ
تَهبُ النُّفوسَ وتَبذلُ الأعلاقا
The struggle intensified, and behind you are youth
Whose souls blaze and whose determination overflows
عَقدتْ بآياتِ الكتابِ عُهودَها
فاعقدْ عليها من سَناهُ نطاقا
They pledged by the verses of the Book
So make them into a wide cloak
إن كنتَ يوماً بانياً ومُجنِّداً
فَابْنِ العُقول وجنِّدِ الأخلاقا
If you were once a builder and mobilizer
Then build minds and mobilize morals
أوَ ليس منكم من رَمَى بعهودكم
ومضَى يُريد بآخرين لِحاقا
Is there not among you one who has betrayed your covenants
And gone to pursue others
يجدُ القيامَ على الحقوقِ مجانةً
ويرى الوفاءَ خديعةً ونفاقا
Who finds defending rights easy
And sees loyalty as trickery and hypocrisy
مَذِلُ المذاهبِ في الرجالِ مَلولُها
ما سِيمَ خُطّةَ ماجدٍ فأطاقا
The disgraced doctrines in men are their worn out ones
No honorable person's character did they adapt
إن كنتَ تبغي العِلمَ عند ثِقاتِهِ
فَسَلِ التِّجارَ وحدّثِ الأسواقا
If you seek knowledge from its trusted keepers
Then ask the merchants and speak to the markets
جَمحَ الهَوى بمساومينَ أذلَّةٍ
ركبوا البَوارَ وبايعوا الإخفاقا
Desire has raged with humiliated bargainers
Who rode folly and pledged failure
أجعلتموهم للحفاظِ جُنودَكم
وزعمتموهم إخوةً ورفاقا
You made them your army to guard
And claimed they were brothers and comrades
لمّا أهابت مصرُ تسألُ مَن لها
كانوا عُقوقاً كلُّهم وإباقا
When Egypt feared and asked who was for her
They were all defiant and fleeing
لولا دفاعُ أوليِ الحميَّةِ أعولت
جَزَعاً وضَجَّ حُماتُها إشفاقا
Were it not for the defense of the protective
She would have despaired, her defenders lamenting
الحقُّ أضيعُ ما يكون إذا الهوى
ملكَ النُّفوسَ وصرَّفَ الأعناقا
Truth is most lost when desire
Rules souls and turns necks
والخَلقُ ليس يَهابُهم في حرمةٍ
من لا يهابُ الواحدَ الخلّاقا
And people do not fear them with sanctity
Who do not fear the One Creator
إن كنتَ مُتَّخِذاً لنفسك عُدّةً
فَادْعُ الهُداةَ وشاورِ الحُذّاقا
If you take tools for yourself
Then call the guides and consult the experts
ودَعِ المضلّلَ والمُخاتِلَ إنّنا
ضِقنا بتضليل الدعاةِ خِناقا
And leave the misguided and the deceiving, we
Are weary of the misleading of preachers
لولا المروءةُ وَهْيَ من أخلاقِنا
مَلأَ العِدَى بحديثنا الآفاقا
Were it not for manliness, the trait of ours
Transgression would have filled the horizons with our talk
أنت الرّئيسُ هَداكَ ربُّكَ خُطّةً
بيضاءَ زِدتَ ضِياءَها إشراقا
You are the president, your Lord guided you
To a white path, you increased its illumination
لمّا طلعتَ ومصرُ حائرةُ الخُطى
جَعلَ الهُدى قَدَماً لمصرَ وساقا
When you rose and Egypt faltered
Guidance made a foot and a leg for Egypt
سِرْ باللّواءِ يَدَعْ لجندِكَ شِلْوَهُ
مَنْ ظَنَّ أنّ مجالَها قد ضاقا
March with the flag, let your troops' fatigue vanish
Who thought its range has narrowed
أرأيتَ إذ يَصفُ الحياةَ لقومِه
مَن ليس يَعرفُ للحياةِ مذاقا
Have you seen when one describes life for his people
Who does not know life's taste?
أرأيتَ إذ يسقيِ الأساةُ بلادهم
كأساً من الموتِ الزُّؤام دِهاقا
Have you seen when the miserable serve their countries
A cup of deadly bitter poison?
أرأيت ما صَنَعَ الدُّهاةُ بأمَّةٍ
صاغوا لها الأغلالَ والأطواقا
Have you seen what the foolish did to a nation
They forged shackles and collars for it
هَشَّتْ إلى النَّعشِ المُقامِ حِيالَها
لمّا رأتْهُ مُزَخْرَفاً بَرّاقا
It leapt towards the standing bier across from it
When it saw it glittering and shining
هُزّ اللواءَ فما لقومِكَ نُصرةٌ
حتّى تَهُزَّ لِواءَكَ الخفّاقا
Shake the flag, for your people have no victory
Until you shake your swift fluttering flag
اصدَعْ قُيودَ بني الكنانةِ إنّها
لا تبتغي أسراً ولا استرقاقا
Break the shackles of the children of Canaan, they
Do not seek captivity or enslavement
