Extend your arms and raise your sights

Why should we not live free and dignified?

Who condemned us to stillness, and decreed

That we should remain shackled prisoners?

He who created souls to be free

    Liberated nations and freed lands

Today, every people seeks its right

Neither timid, nor obsequious, nor submissive

Hope and yearning are pinned on you

And souls, as you know, are perplexed

    You pledged loyalty to Egypt

When she saw her noble children

And you carried the hopes of the country and its people

So you carried great pride and glory

Seek for us the honor of life, for we

    Cannot endure humiliation and submission
