1. تلك عُقبى البغيِ فانظر كيف عادا

    يا له من مُصعَبٍ ألقى القيادا

    Such are the consequences of transgression, so observe how they turned out

    Oh, what a difficult path Mus'ab took to leadership

  2. أرأيتَ القومَ شرّاً وأذىً

    ورأيتَ القومَ ناراً ورمَادا

    Did you see the people as evil and harm

    And see the people as fire and ashes

  3. غُيِّبوا في حُفرَةٍ مَسجورةٍ

    تَخمدُ الدنيا وتَزدادُ اتّقادا

    They were buried in a scorching pit

    That dims the world and keeps blazing

  4. مُلِئَتْ رُعباً وَزِيدَتْ رَوْعَةً

    من عَذابٍ كان ضِعفاً ثم زادا

    Filled with terror and increased in ferocity

    From a punishment that was weak then grew

  5. قِفْ عليها وتبيَّنْ ما بها

    هل ترى إلا انتفاضاً وَارِتعادا

    Stop by it and examine what is in it

    Do you see anything but writhing and shivering?

  6. يا لهم إذ زعموا أصنامهم

    تُعجزِ اللّهَ كِفاحاً وجلادا

    Oh how they claimed their idols

    Could incapacitate God in combat and dispute

  7. جَلَّ ربّي لم يُغادِرْ بأسُه

    أنْفُساً منهم ولم يتركْ عَتادا

    My Lord is Sublime, His might did not spare

    Any souls among them nor leave equipment

  8. خاصموا اللّهَ وعادَوا جُنْدَهُ

    وأرى الأصنامَ أولى أن تعادى

    They disputed with God and opposed His troops

    And I see the idols more deserving to be opposed

  9. هي غرتهم فضلوا وعتوا

    واستحبوا الكُفرَ بَغياً وعِنادا

    They misled them so they strayed and rebelled

    And preferred disbelief aggressively and stubbornly

  10. حَلَّقوا بالأمسِ في طُغيانهم

    ثمَّ بادوا في مَهاويهِ وبادا

    They circled arrogantly yesterday in their tyranny

    Then perished in its abysses and perished

  11. عِظةٌ في التُّربِ كانت فِتنةً

    وعذابٌ كان شرّاً وفَسادا

    A lesson in the soil was sedition

    And a torment that was evil and corruption

  12. كُلْ هنيئاً من قليبٍ قَرِمٍ

    يَبلعُ الكُفّارَ مَثْنَى وَفُرادى

    Happy is every heart that is brave

    That swallows the disbelievers two by two and alone

  13. طال منك الصوم واشتد الطوى

    فخذ القوم التهاماً وازدرادا

    Your fast from them grew long and the fold intensified

    So the people took to blaming and abandoning

  14. جَرَّبوا الحربَ وجاؤوا فَلَقُوْا

    غُمماً جُلَّى وأهوالاً شِدادا

    They tried war and came so they met

    Overwhelming calamities and severe horrors

  15. سمعوا الصَّوتَ وما من ناطقٍ

    يُخبِرُ السائلَ منهم حِينَ نادى

    They heard the voice but there is no speaker

    To inform the questioner among them when he called

  16. يا رسولَ اللهِ هُمْ في شأنهم

    غَمرةٌ تَطغَى وبلوى تَتمادى

    O Messenger of God, they are occupied with their own affairs

    An overwhelming deluge and an ordeal that keeps growing

  17. صدَقَ الوعدُ فكلٌّ مُوقِنٌ

    يا له منهم يَقيناً لو أفادا

    The promise was fulfilled so each is certain

    Oh, what certainty they would have if they heeded

  18. أنكروا الحقَّ وراموا غيره

    فكأنَّ اللّهَ لا يَجزِي العبادا

    They rejected the truth and sought other than it

    So it is as if God does not repay His servants

  19. هكذا من يَعبدُ الطاغوتَ لا

    يَتَّقِي ربّاً ولا يَرجو مَعادا

    Thus is one who worships tyrants, he does not

    Fear a Lord nor hopes for a return

  20. جَلَّ ربِّي وتَعالى إنّهُ

    بالِغٌ من كُلِّ أمرٍ ما أرادا

    My Lord is Sublime and Exalted, He

    Fulfills every matter He intends

  21. إرفَعِي يا دولةَ الحقِّ العِمادا

    وأَقيمِي يا طواغيتُ الحِدادا

    Rise, O pillar of truth, as a pillar

    And stand firm, O tyrants of evil

  22. أيُّ حقٍّ ذلَّ في سُلطانِهِ

    أيُّ زُورٍ عزَّ في الدُّنيا وسادا

    What truth has been humbled in its authority?

    What falsehood has been honored and ruled?

  23. إنّ للّهِ سُيوفاً خُذُماً

    وجنوداً لا يَمَلُّونَ الجِهادا

    God has sharp swords and armies

    Who never tire of striving

  24. بَعثَ الأُسطولَ في آياتِهِ

    جائلاً يُعيي الأساطيلَ اصْطِيادا

    He sent the fleet in His signs

    Prevailing, exhausting fleets in pursuit

  25. قُوّةٌ أرسلها من أمرِه

    تَفتحُ الدُّنيا وتَحتلُّ البلادا

    A power He sent by His command

    That opens the world and seizes nations

  26. إنَّ كلَّ الخيرِ يا صَفوانُ في

    مَهلكِ القومِ فلا تَعْدُ الرَّشادا

    All good, O Safwan, is in

    The destruction of the people so do not begrudge fate

  27. دَعْ عُميراً لا تَهِجْهُ وَاتَّئِدْ

    إنَّ للعاقلِ في الأمرِ اتّئادا

    Leave Umayr, do not provoke him, and curb yourself

    The intelligent has self-restraint in the matter

  28. أخذَ السَّيفَ صَقيلاً مُرهَفاً

    يأخُذُ الأبطالَ والبِيضَ الحِدادا

    He took the sharp polished sword

    That takes the heroes and the brave in white

  29. ظَلَّ يَسقيهِ وما أدراهُ هَلْ

    كان سُمّاً ما سقاهُ أم شِهادا

    He continued to water it but did not know

    Whether what he watered it with was poison or martyrdom

  30. كَرِهَ الحقَّ فلمَّا جاءَهُ

    نَبذَ الحِقْدَ وأصفاهُ الودادا

    He disliked the truth so when it came to him

    He cast aside hatred and purified affection for him

  31. مِن حَديثٍ أنبأ اللّهُ بهِ

    خيرَ مَن حدَّثَ عنهُ فأجادا

    From a narrative God informed of

    Better than one who narrated about Him and excelled

  32. قال أسلمتُ لربّي وكَفَى

    بالسّبيلِ السَّمحِ دِيناً وَاعْتِقادا

    He said, “I surrendered to my Lord and it is enough

    With the gentle path as religion and belief”

  33. إقرأ القرآن وَاتْبَعْ هَدْيَهُ

    يا عُميرَ الخيرِ إنْ ذو الغَيِّ حادا

    Recite the Quran and follow its guidance

    O Umayr, good if one who strays desists

  34. إنّهُ النُّورُ الذي يجلو العمَى

    إنّهُ السّرُّ الذي يُحيي الجمادا

    It is the light that clears blindness

    It is the secret that gives life to the inanimate

  35. أين يا صفوانُ ما أمّلتَهُ

    أين ما حدَّثْتَ تَستهِوي السَّوادا

    Where, O Safwan, is what you wished for?

    Where is what you told, the black and white are equal?

  36. يا لها داهيةً طارتْ بها

    أعْقُبُ الجوِّ وقد كانت نآدا

    Oh what a sudden loss carried it away

    Consequences of the atmosphere though it was a confidant

  37. لا تَظنَّ الجودَ دَيْناً يُشْتَرى

    سَتَرى الجودَ المُصَفَّى والجوادا

    Do not think generosity is a debt that can be purchased

    You will see pure generosity and the generous

  38. سَتراهُ وادياً مِن نَعَمٍ

    يُعجزُ الآمالَ سَعْياً وَارْتيادا

    You will see it as a valley of blessings

    That frustrates hopes of striving and getting accustomed

  39. هُوَ من فَيضِ العُبابِ المرتمى

    يتقَصَّى الأرض مدّاً واطّرادا

    It is from the overflowing of the wished for

    That walks the earth extending and moving straight

  40. الرسولُ السَّمحُ والمولى الذي

    يَسَعُ الأجيالَ برّاً وافتقادا

    The gentle Messenger and Master who

    Caters to generations in righteousness and care

  41. اقترحْ ما شِئتَ وَاطْمَعْ لا تَخفْ

    مِن نَدى كَفَّيهِ نَقصاً أو نَفادا

    Suggest what you wish and aspire, do not worry

    Of deficiency or depletion from his palm’s bounty

  42. حَبَّذا الموئلُ فيما تَتَّقِي

    مَن أذى الدّهرِ وما أعلى المصادا

    What you avoid harm from time in is most fortunate

    And how high is one who takes heed as a purpose

  43. سَببٌ للّهِ من يَعلقْ بهِ

    لم يَخَفْ ضَيْماً ولم يَخْشَ اضطهادا

    A cause held to God by one who seizes it

    Will not fear injustice nor dread persecution
