يا قومُ ما ذنبُ الرّئي

سِ إذا تمسّكَ بالدّليلْ

O people, what is the fault of the president

If he adheres to evidence?

ما كان من رُسلِ الخيا

لِ ولا دُعاةِ المستحيلْ

He is not of the messengers of fantasy

Nor advocates of the impossible

إنجيلُه نَشْرُ السّلا

مِ ودينُه أَخْذُ القليلْ

His gospel is spreading peace

And his religion is taking little

سعدٌ رسولُ الخيرِ وال

إصلاحِ بُورك من رسولْ

Saad is the messenger of goodness and

Reform, blessed be the messenger

ما النّيلُ ما السُّودانُ ما

طولُ التوجُّعِ والغليلْ

What of the Nile? What of Sudan? What of

The length of agony and anguish?

ما الملحقاتُ وما الجلا

ءُ وما التّمادِي في العَويلْ

What of the annexations? What of the exile?

What of persisting in lament?

يا قومُ لُوذوا في الجِدا

لِ بحكمةِ الرأيِ الأصيلْ

O people, take refuge in wisdom

Of sound opinion

صَدقَ الرّئيسُ فَقدِّسو

هْ ونزِّهوه عنِ المثيلْ

The president spoke truthfully

Sanctify him and absolve him of the like

أَيصيحُ صائحكم بما

يؤذيهِ من قالٍ وقيلْ

Does your crier cry out with what

Hurts him of speech and saying?

ويَرى عليه لنفسه

حقَّ الزّميلِ على الزّميلْ

And sees for himself upon him

The right of the peer upon the peer

الله أكبر ما لكم

لا تبتغون ذوي العقولْ

God is Greatest! What is with you?

Do you not seek those of intellect?

يا معشرَ الشُّعراءِ لَسْ

تُم بالثِّقاتِ ولا العُدولْ

O group of poets! You are not

Trusted nor just

لا تطمعوا في شعبِ مص

رَ فليس بالشّعبِ الجَهولْ

Do not covet the people of Egypt

For they are not an ignorant people

هو ما يقولُ زعيمُه

ويريد من أَرَبٍ وَسُولْ

It is what its leader says

And wants of confusion and deceit

هو لا يضنُّ بألفِ مص

رٍ في الفداءِ وألفِ نيلْ

It does not stint on a thousand Egypts

In sacrifice and a thousand Niles

فدعوا العَناءَ وآمنوا

بزعامةِ الشّيخِ الجليلْ

So leave hostility and believe

In the leadership of the revered Sheikh

نِعمَ الزّعيمُ شِعارُهُ

دُلّوا الزَّعيمَ على السّبيلْ

What a fine leader! His motto:

Guide the leader to the path
