أين المبارز والمناضل
والمناجز والمقاتل
Where are the warriors and fighters
And the brave and combatants?
أين المكاثر والمفاخر
والمكابر والمصاول
Where are the boasters and braggarts
And the obstinate and assailants?
أين المراوغ والمخاتل
والمطاول والمساجل
Where are the evasive and devious
And the tenacious and disputants?
أين المدافع والبنادق
والعوامل والمناصل
Where are the defenders and rifles
And the agents and swords?
في أيها هلك العدو
وإن يكن معه جحافل
With these we destroy the enemy
Even if they come with legions
إنا سكتنا سبة
واليوم ذرّ بنا المقاول
We were silent from insults
But today builders have incited us
ولربما نطق المشو
ف على المنابر وهو قائل
Perhaps the candles will speak
From the pulpits as they say
تمضي الاواخر لا محا
لة مثلما مضت الاوائل
The endings go on, no stopping
Like the beginnings have passed
انا لنضرب بالسيو
ف وبالدنانير الرواعل
We will strike with swords
And golden coins, O nobles
هذي الخزائن عندنا
وبها نسالم او نقاتل
These treasures are with us
With them we make peace or fight
فهي السلاح لدى الوغى
وهي الدروع لكل صائل
They are weapons in turmoil
And shields against every assailant
وهي الوسائل للموا
صل والمفاز لكل آمل
They are means to goals
And rewards for every hopeful
كم قد اذالت من مصو
ن واستباحت من قبائل
How many fortified places
And tribes they have looted
اودت بعزة تادرو
س وما اعد من المجادل
They humiliated proud Tadros
And what armies he had rallied
يطوى لها وعر الجبا
ل كأنه سهل السواحل
For them mountains bow down
As if they were coasts and beaches
واذلت الهند التي
حشرت عساكرها بواسل
And India which mobilized
Its armies of heroes
والزنج خاضعة لها
وطغاتهم منها جوافل
The Africans are subjected to them
And their tyrants are like waves
لا يستوي من يخزن ال
دينار درءا للنوازل
Not equal are those who hoard
Wealth to ward off afflictions
ومبذر يرمي به
في كل مفسدة يحاول
And spendthrifts who squander it
On every corruption they attempt
من رامنا فليبتدر
وانا له بالحتف كافل
Let he who challenges us
Be prepared, we grant perdition
