طَرف جَفاهُ هُجوعَهُ

أَبَداً تَسيل دُموعَهُ

His eyelids heavy with grief

His tears never cease to flow

يَفديكَ جسم ناحل

دَنف الفُؤاد مُرَوعهُ

Your frail body sacrifices itself

His aching heart terrified

يَفديك قُلت كُلَّما

أَعرَضت زادَ وُلوعَهُ

I said I'd sacrifice myself whenever

You turned away, increasing his agony

قَد ضاقَ بِالأَشواق فَاِنفَرَجَت

هُناكَ صُدوعَهُ

His longing grew so tight his chest

Cracked open from within

يَفنى فَتنذبهُ بِأَصوات

الزَفير ضُلوعَهُ

It destroys him, his ribs

Echoing with sighs

يَشكو إَلَيكَ لَواحِظاً

أَبَداً تَظَلُ تروعهُ

Crying to you constantly

You remain forever his terror

ما أَن نَظَرت إِلَيهِ إِلّا

وَاِستَهَلَّ نَجيعُهُ

No sooner does he look at you

Than he bursts out wailing

مَولايَ لا تَتلف مُحبك

فَالوداد شَفيعُهُ

My lord, do not destroy your lover

For passion intercedes for him

يا مَن لَهُ كُل الجَما

ل وَلي الغَرام جَميعُهُ

O you who has all beauty

And owns all who love passionately

إِن كانَ وَصل الصَب مِما

يَستَحيل وُقوعَهُ

If union with the beloved is impossible

Then so is its occurrence

فَالقَلب مِما يَستَحيل

سَلوهُ وَرُجوعَهُ

And if hearts cannot help

But desire and seek

سوّفهُ زوراً بِاللُقا

فَعَسى يَخف هُلوعَهُ

Pacify him falsely with a visit

Perhaps that might lessen his torment

كَم باتَ يَنتَظر المَنية

وَالسقام ضَجيعُهُ

How often has he awaited death

With illness his bedfellow

لَم يَغنِ عَنهُ إِذ هَجَر

ت بُكاؤُهُ وَخُضوعَهُ

When you abandoned him, neither tears

Nor meekness were any use

فَقَضى هُناكَ وَلَم يَجد

سَبب الصُدود صَريعه

He died there without finding

Any reason for your rejection
