أُعطيتَ مِن نَفَحاتِ الحُسنِ أَسناها
وَفُقتَ مِن نَفَحاتِ الطيبِ أَذكاها
You were granted the most sublime of beauty’s breaths,
And exalted by the most fragrant of perfume’s breaths.
فَالحُسنُ مُطَّرَحٌ وَالطيبُ مُفتَضَحٌ
وَالحورُ أَصبَحتَ بَعدَ اللَهِ مَولاها
Thus beauty lies discarded, and perfume stands shamed;
And as for the houris, you have become, after God, their lord.
مَن كانَ لَم يَرَ شَمساً مِن سَنا بَشَرٍ
فَإِنَّنا بِعَلِيٍّ قَد رَأَيناها
Whoever has never seen a sun born of a mortal’s radiance—
In Ali, we have surely seen it.
