1. وَمُشَجَّجٍ بِالمِسكِ في وَجَناتِهِ

    حَسَنِ الشَمائِلِ ساحِرِ الأَلفاظِ

    With musk-scented gardens

    Of beautiful appearance, bewitching words

  2. أَبَداً تَرى الآثارَ في وَجَناتِهِ

    مِمّا يُجَرِّحُها مِنَ الأَلحاظِ

    You will always see traces in his gardens

    From what wounds it with glances

  3. وَتَراهُ سائِرَ دَهرِهِ مُتَبَسِّماً

    فَإِذا رَآني مَرَّ كَالمُغتاظِ

    You see him smiling his whole life

    But when he sees me he passes like one annoyed

  4. في القَلبِ مِنّي وَالجَوانِحِ وَالحَشا

    مِن حُبِّهِ حَرٌّ كَحَرِّ شُواظِ

    In my heart and limbs and thoughts

    From his love a heat like the heat of embers
