Days have exposed you, O man

Let not abasement disgrace him who was once honored

If after me you are torn asunder, it is no wonder

That a pomegranate bursts open when ripe

    Hands unfold you after modesty

Once you were folded, protected and concealed

O you, erstwhile ardent now forgiving in sensual delight

    Where is that passion?

    No seducer has challenged you

Except you said: between me and you lies the battlefield

Why am I wretched because of you, while another is happy

Through your love? My love then is unfortunate
