أَعَبدونُ قَد صِرتَ أُحدوثَةً

يُدَوَّنُ سائِرُ أَخبارِها

You have become something new that people worship,

Recording all its news.

حَبَوتَ النَصارى بِها مُعلِناً

لَها غَيرَ كاتِمِ أَسرارِها

You have enticed the Christians with it, openly,

Not concealing any of its secrets.

فَقَد أَدرَكَت بِكَ في المُسلِمي

نَ ما قَد تَقَدَّمَ مِن ثارِها

So with you it has reached among the Muslims,

That which preceded of its influence.

رَأَيتَ فَياشِلَهُم لَم تُنَل

بِحَدِّ المَواسي وَإِمرارِها

You have seen them - so why have you not attained

With consolation and easing its passage?

وَلَم أَدرِ أَنَّكَ مِن قَبلِها

تُحِبُّ السِياطَ بِأَثمارِها

I did not know that before it

You love the whips and their blows.
