نَبيلُ رِدفٍ دَقيقُ خَصرٍ

سَليلُ شَمسٍ نَتيجُ بَدرِ

Slender-waisted noble steed

Descendant of radiant sun, product of full moon

بَديعُ حُسنٍ رَشيقُ قَدٍّ

مَليحُ خَدٍّ نَقِيُّ ثَغرِ

Elegant, beautiful, slender, graceful

Pretty cheeked, pure lipped

قَضيبُ بانٍ عَلَيهِ بَدرٌ

مِثالُ حُسنٍ عَروسُ خِدرِ

Rod of soft myrtle, with full moon upon it

Example of beauty, bride of tents

يا خِضرُ قَد كُنتَ ذا اِستِتارٍ

في الحُبِّ حَتّى هَتَكتَ سِتري

O Khidr, you were discreet in love

Until you tore away my veil

نَمَّت دُموعي عَلى عَذابي

مُذ غابَ عَنّي جَميلُ صَبري

My tears grew over my torment

Since my beautiful patience left me
