1. وَشادِنٍ في المُجونِ دَلّاني

    أَنسَكَ ما كُنتُ بَينَ خِلّاني

    And a young gazelle who guided me into licentiousness,

    Though I was the most devout among my companions.

  2. قُلتُ لَهُ وَالأَكُفُّ تَأخُذُني

    بِأَيِّ وَجهٍ تُراكَ تَلقاني

    I said to him, as capturing hands seized me:

    "With what face do you dare to meet me?"

  3. فَأَنتَ أَوقَعتَني مُخادَعَةً

    في عَمَلٍ لا أَراهُ مِن شاني

    "For you have ensnared me through deceit,"

    "Into a deed I deem beneath my dignity."

  4. فَقالَ لي ضاحِكاً يُمازِحُني

    هَذا جَزاءُ اللوطِيِّ وَالزاني

    He replied to me, laughing and jesting:

    "This is the recompense of the sodomite and the fornicator."
