أَمّا المِكاسُ فَشَيءٌ لَستُ أَعرِفُهُ

وَالحَمدُ لِلَّهِ في فِعلٍ وَلا راحِ

As for haggling, it is a thing I do not know,

—Praise be to God—neither in deeds nor in wine.

هاتيكَ أَنفي بِها هَمّي وَذا أَمَلي

فَلَستُ عَن ذا وَلا عَن تِلكَ بِالصاحي

With that I banish my cares, and this is my desire,

So neither from this nor from that am I ever sober.
