مَن رَأى مِثلَ ما أُغالي مِنَ البَي

عِ إِذا ما اِتَّجَرتُ عِندَ لَقيفِ

Who has seen the like of the exorbitant deal I strike,

In the sale, whenever I trade with a snatching hand?

نِلتُ يَحيى وَأُمَّهُ وَأَباهُ

وَأَخاهُ وَأُختَهُ بِرَغيفِ

I obtained Yahya, his mother, and his father,

And his brother, and his sister, for a single loaf.

عِشتُ دَهراً يُدالُ مِنّي لِقَومٍ

فَأَدالَ الإِلَهُ لي مِن ثَقيفِ

I lived an age where fortune favored others against me,

But now God has turned the fortune in my favor against Thaqif.
