And two lovers whose cheeks pressed together,
At the moment of kissing the Black Stone;
They quenched their longing without finding sin,
As though they had arrived for a rendezvous.
Were it not for the crowd jostling against them,
They would not have come to their senses until the end of time.
We remained, each of us concealing our face
With a hand shielding the side exposed to view,
Doing within the Mosque what is never
Done by the righteous within the Mosque.
