I weep over an abode with parting words
Spare your words addressing the silent ruins,
It no longer welcomes my greeting
For they hold no echo to return your greeting.
And I curse the raven of separation with hatred
And curse the raven of parting with deep disdain,
For it is the harbinger of evil omens
For he is the herald of misfortune.
And desire narcissus over wild ginger
Turn to the narcissus, leaving the boxthorn,
and myrtle over a rugged tree and a thin, small tree
And to the myrtle, shunning wormwood and sage.
And I indulge in wine during its seasons
Hasten to the wine in its perfect hour,
Do not abstain from it claiming it forbidden
And do not abstain due to prohibition.
For he who abandons wine for another
For he who passes over wine for other things,
Lives with eyes yearning, deprived
Lives a weary life, the very soul of deprivation.
