Oh moon of the abode
Oh moon that lights the dwelling place,
And oh musk of perfumer
Oh musk the perfumer distills,
And oh breeze of lily
Oh breath of sweet wild rose,
And oh rose of trees
Oh blossom on the trees,
And oh shade of branches
Oh shade of branching boughs,
By the bank of rivers
Upon the river's bank,
And oh pair of ivory feet
Oh ankles carved of ivory,
And oh flute of piper
Oh lute of reveling rogues,
And oh throne of Solomon
Oh throne of Solomon,
When resolved to travel
When poised to voyage forth,
And oh psalms of David
Oh psalm of David's voice,
When recited at dawn
Recited at the break of dawn,
And Kaaba of God’s house
Oh Kaaba of the House of God,
With its corner and veil
With Corner-stone and draped in veils,
Verily I have become of love for you
I have become, from loving you,
Between eternity and hellfire
Caught between Paradise and Hell.
